Kristin Juszczyk Shows Off Her '90s-Inspired Christmas Decor and Preps to Host Family's Epic Party (Exclusive)

Kristin Juszczyk takes on the role of Queen of Christmas for her family.

Every year, the wife of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kyle Juszczyk celebrates Christmas Eve with her large Italian family in New York, and for almost 60 years, her Nonna has hosted the festivities. However, this year marks a change. With the matriarch no longer living at home, Kristin is stepping up.

“Everyone was thinking, ‘Who’s going to host? Who’s going to take the new crown for the new family tradition?'” Kristin, 30, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. It’s just so magical and so homely, and I think it’s special because the world really shuts down and you’re just with the people you love the most.”

“To be able to take that crown and take over the household on Christmas Eve from my Nonna was something that was just special to me and it’s definitely not something I take lightly,” he adds.

Since Kristin and Kyle live mostly in California, all of their Christmas decorations are there. Kristin knew that if she was going to host in their New York home, she needed to bring some festive decorations to make her East Coast abode cozy.

So she decided to partner with Balsam Hill, a brand known for stunning artificial Christmas trees and other holiday decor.

“Their decorations are so beautiful,” she says. “Their trees feel so realistic and their decorations have a classic, wholesome feel, which is exactly what I wanted for this Christmas Eve with my decorations.”

“I wanted to kind of bring back that ’90s Christmas feeling and the joy I felt as a kid. I just want to recreate that for my nieces and nephews,” she adds. “I truly couldn’t be more excited about all the amazing decorations.”

Since Christmas falls during football season, Kristin explains that Kyle won’t be able to join the family celebration in New York. After Christmas Eve, she will fly back to California on Christmas Day to spend the holidays with him.

“He’s hard at work and those are just the sacrifices footballers make, but that’s OK because I’ll be home to be with him at Christmas,” she says.

Kristin adds that she is a big fan of traditions and whenever she organizes a child’s party or any kind of party for her friends, she always has a “tradition box” in which people at the party write down what their family traditions are.

“I love learning about other people’s traditions and then implementing them into my own life,” she says.

One special tradition she and Kyle share is collecting ornaments whenever they travel or have a memorable experience together. In their house, they have a special tree dedicated to these decorations. Every year he can’t wait to decorate that tree.

“We go through each ornament one by one, talk about the memory or journey it represents and just enjoy going down memory lane,” she says.

“It’s really fun to watch the tree grow,” she continues. “We already have so many amazing decorations and I’m so excited to see it spread. It’s definitely become one of my new favorite Christmas traditions.”
