A Kentucky teenager has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting a police officer during an arrest.
On November 4, the Mount Washington Police Department shared a press release detailing the events leading up to the alleged incident.
The young woman, later identified as 18-year-old Kenzie Vanarsdale, was allegedly caught trespassing at Lindsey Duvall Park around 6 a.m. Local Kentucky ABC affiliate WHAS11 has named Officer Bramer as the law enforcement officer in charge.

The release states that Bramer identified himself as a police officer, and after making contact with Vanarsdale, attempted to obtain identification from her. Before that happened, she allegedly fled on foot.
After a chase, Bramer caught up with the teenager in the 1100 block of Emma Court.
While trying to detain Vanarsdale, she allegedly “turned around and hit the officer right above the left eye with a screwdriver.” The department said her actions put Bramer at “risk of serious bodily injury or death.”

The officer was then able to take her into custody before she was transported to UL South for treatment where she was later released. That same day, Mount Washington police spokesman Sgt. Austin Battcher told WHAS11 News that Bramer is “fine.”

Vanarsdale was taken into custody in Bullitt County, where she was charged with attempted murder of a police officer. The statement added that the teenager is currently under investigation for other crimes in the area of Mt. of Washington that happened that morning.
PEOPLE could not determine if Vanarsdale had legal representation for comment.
Her next preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m., according to the Kentucky Justice Court.
