Kynan Chenai is an Indian clay pigeon shooter. He is the son of the famous national shooting champion Darius Chenai. In 2016, he won the championship at the Asian Olympic Shooting Qualifiers in Delhi.

Kynan Chenai was born on Tuesday, January 29, 1991, in Hyderabad, India (32 years old as of 2023). He completed his education from Hebron School in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. As a child, Kenan was not keen on studying and was more involved in sports. While in school, he participated in team sports such as field hockey and soccer. He also won the school freestyle championship three years in a row. At a young age, Kennan drew his attention to a gun in his father’s room. As a child, Kynan Chenai was fascinated by watching the Olympic rings and promised himself that one day he would compete in the Olympics. He studied business management and sports science at Brunel University London.

Kynan started shooting when he was 10 years old and was taught by his father in 2000. Talking about starting his shooting career, he said in an interview,
Initially, I was shooting just for fun. Then, I got used to the game and by the time I was 16, it eventually turned into an obsession. “
In 2003, Kynan finished fourth in the GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship in Chennai. Kynan competed in the 21-year-old category in the GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship. Later, Chenai trained under four-time Olympic champion Mansher Singh. Kenan has competed in many international events, including the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, 2022 Asian Games and 2016 Summer Olympics. On January 28, 2016, he won one of the four spots on the Indian team in the men’s clay pigeon competition on the second day of the Asian Olympic Shooting Qualifiers.
In 2016, Kennan led 75 shooters to participate in the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. In 2016, he made his Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro, finishing 19th in the men’s flying saucer event.
