Lainey Wilson Wants to Collab with Victoria Monét and New Friend Lana Del Rey 

Lainey Wilson knows exactly who she wants to get in the studio next!

The country music star, 31, revealed in an interview for the cover Board announced on May 9, that her dream collaborators are Victoria Monét and Lana Del Rey.

Wilson said she became interested in working with Monét, 35, after watching her perform at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party this year.

“She just turned it on. At the Grammys, she [victory] the speeches were from the heart,” she added. “I thought, ‘I want to be her friend.'”

At the Grammys, Monét took home the awards for Best R&B Album, Best Engineered Non-Classical Album and Best New Artist.

During her best new artist acceptance speech, she emotionally reflected on her “15-year quest” for success.

“I moved to LA in 2009. And I like to compare myself to a plant that’s been planted and you can look at the music industry as soil and you can look at it as dirty or you can look at it as a source of nutrients and water. And my the roots have been growing underground for so long and I feel like I’m finally sprouting above the ground,” said Monét.

It’s no surprise that Wilson also called Del Rey, 38, a dream collaborator, given that she earned five nominations at this year’s Grammys and previously announced an album release soon. Lasso, country album, due out in September.

Like Del Rey, Wilson also has work to do.

On Thursday, she announced the imminent release of her fifth studio album, Whirlwind.

“That’s been my life for the past few years. I hope this record brings peace to your ‘whirlwind’ and wraps its arms around you like it did me while writing and recording it. August 23rd. Pre-order and pre-save now! ” Wilson wrote next to the cover on Instagram.

The upcoming album is “a boldly honest look at the country star’s life and journey around the world,” according to a press release.
