Lake Lanier is getting a new attraction!
On Wednesday, Margaritaville on the Lake Lanier Islands held a groundbreaking ceremony to announce its plans for this summer — a new water park.
According to the resort’s official website, one of the main attractions for their Fins Up water park will be “the long-awaited Apocalypso — Georgia’s first adrenaline-filled water slide that will redefine water thrills.”
The water park will have a variety of water activities for all ages.
Along with Apocalypso, there will be three other slides for their younger thrill-seeking crowd: Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania.

The multi-million dollar redevelopment will also provide new drinking and dining options for park visitors, as well as an expanded Wibit Aquatic Adventure and new cabins.
There will also be more options to stock up on souvenirs to remember your trip with the addition of brand new retail spaces in the water park.
“This monumental investment marks the most significant expansion of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in decades, adding the largest water slide complex in Georgia to the water park, which will boast a total of 15 slides in 2024,” park officials wrote in a statement to Atlanta’s WSB-TV. 2.

Officials also announced that they “have to sign some steel” on Apocalypso, the news station continued.
Others are excited about the grand opening and what it will mean for residents and travelers.
“This hit tower of slides, featuring Georgia’s first slide, will be an epic addition to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands,” “Bucky” Perry, vice president of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, said in a statement when the ride was announced last fall. “For those looking for an escape and a non-stop day of high-speed thrills and family fun, Margaritaville on the Lanier Islands is the place to be.”
