It was a night to remember for Lamorne Morris!
The actor, 41, took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
He began: “I want to thank God for allowing me to be here. I also want to thank God for my beautiful mother, who raised me. She is my greatest champion since you know I came out of her, I left her, her ass, how year, I know where babies come from.”
He also thanked his 4-year-old daughter Lily, teasing her: “I told you I would do it, you always doubted me.”

“All the people at FX, my wonderful cast, my management team, God, I’m forgetting so many people… My fellow nominees, Robert Downey Jr., I got your poster at my house, please sign it, seriously,” he continued.
“And I love you to all my friends and family if you have my number it means I love you,” he added. “Who am I forgetting, let’s see John Landgraf, Noah Hawley. Noah Hawley — you put together a hell of a cast and thank you for believing in me and everyone at FX and Hulu. I’m going to do one more thing on my podcast and thank the other people who I forgot to thank you.”

For Fargo, Morris and his co-stars Juno Temple and Jon Hamm were nominated. In his statement, Morris used the opportunity to joke about his career and call Downey Jr.
“Thank you to the Television Academy for finally recognizing all my hard work New girl! Although I believe it’s a lock, I see myself nominated alongside Robert Downey Jr. who stole my role in tropical thunderstorm,” he said. “My fellow nominees and I will not let this go to waste.”
“This is a huge honor and I couldn’t be more excited!” he continued. “I am truly blessed to work with such a talented cast and crew! Special thanks to Noah for the opportunity and trust in me to bring Witt Farr to life! Go Fargo!”
Fargo, the five-season thriller anthology, is also nominated for Outstanding Limited Series.
Other nominees in Morris’ category were Jonathan Bailey, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Goodman-Hill, Lewis Pullman and Treat Williams.

Bailey, 36, who was nominated for companions, released a heartfelt statement following the announcement, thanking fans and paying tribute to his character.
“Playing Tim Laughlin was the experience of a lifetime and I will always carry it with me. To be recognized in this way for this experience, and with Matt, my best co-pilot, is truly beyond measure.”
“I have not forgotten that this kind of recognition is rare. I grew up enjoying a minimal supply of queer television and film while struggling with problematic media and social criticism of queer life,” Bridgerton the star continued. “I’ve loved so many award-winning drama performances by gay characters, but to have Matt and I nominated together as gay actors seems like the kind of progress that would make the world an easier place to grow up in. I’m grateful for that and so incredibly proud. Thank you to the TV Academy for this opportunities.”
Bailey added, “I share this with Ron, Matt, Noah, Jelani, Allison, the entire Companion family. And of course, Tim and all the other angels who have fought before us.”
Matt Bomer is also nominated for his lead role in the political thriller based on the 2007 book of the same name. Bomber stars as political operative Hawkins Fuller alongside his co-star, Bailey’s Tim Laguhlin.

Nominated for a role in Sympathizer, Downey Jr., 59 — who earned the show’s only nomination this year — praised his co-stars in a statement at the time.
“I share this nomination with the incomparable director Park, Hoa Xuande, Sandra Oh and my extremely talented Vietnamese castmates,” he said. “It was a privilege to participate in this extraordinary, cross-cultural project. I thank the Television Academy for recognizing my five small roles Sympathizeris a larger whole.”
Sympathizer follows a North Vietnamese spy captain played by Hoa Xuande who goes to the US and meets the characters of Sandra Oh and Downey Jr.

Goodman-Hill, 56, nominated for the role of antagonist Darrien in baby reindeer, was one of 11 nominations for the hit Netflix series at the 2024 Emmy Awards. He played a television writer who sexually assaulted Donny, the main character and creator Richard Gadd.
“It’s all 100 percent emotionally accurate, if that makes sense. It’s all borrowed from cases that have happened to me and real people that I’ve met,” Gadd said. Diversity in April. “But of course you can’t do the real truth, for both legal and artistic reasons. I mean, there are certain protections, you can’t just copy someone’s life and name and put it on television.”

Pullman, 31, is nominated for Chemistry lessons, one of a total of four series nominations — one is an outstanding limited series. Along with Pullman, Brie Larson was nominated for Best Actress, and Aja Naomi King was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
In an interview with PEOPLE in October, Bonnie Garmus, writer of the book, which was later adapted into a series, praised the “really good” performances of both Larson and Pullman, the latter of whom plays Elizabeth’s chemist colleague and lover Calvin Evans.
She said that while she initially doubted Pullman’s physique suited the character of Calvin, who is also an avid rower, she quickly realized that “he does such a good job” of the role.

IN Feud: Capote vs Swans, Williams gained recognition for his role as William S. Paley. The series followed the life of the writer Truman Capote and his social friends, who were considered his “swans”, whose secrets he exposed in a chapter of one of his books.
Williams died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 71 in June 2023, and the late actor was honored in the series at the end of the Valentine’s Day episode.
“Every day he was blown away by these incredible sights,” actress Naomi Watts told PEOPLE at the time. “He was talking about, ‘I can’t believe I have such good material.’ And I think we all felt that way, even some of those scenes where he was acting horribly – the character, not Treat!”
His actors were also nominated: Tom Hollander for Outstanding Actor, Watts for Outstanding Actress, Diane Lane for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
