Lamorne Morris isn’t afraid to cry in front of her daughter.
Almost a month after he received an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for his work on FargoMorris, 41, gave an inside look at his first reaction to the big news.
In a video shared on Instagram and TikTok, Morris breaks down while talking on the phone, with his three-year-old daughter Lily smiling and laughing nearby.
– Dad, are you crying again? she asks him several times before he tells the person on the phone, “Oh, God. Lily’s like, ‘Are you crying, Dad?’ ” Then she takes a moment to say, “Yes, Daddy is crying.”

The first-time Emmy nominee joked about the moment in the caption, writing, “When I got the call about the Emmy nomination, my daughter thought it would be cool to make fun of me.”
Various of his friends also reacted in the comments section, including Sheaun McKinney, who wrote, “This is awesome 🙏🏿🙌🏿.” Brandon Mychal Smith commented: “Mannnnn this is a beautiful king ❤️❤️❤️.” Quinta Brunson wrote, “❤️.”

Morris proudly reacted to the video during an appearance on Tuesday, August 13 Today with Hoda and Jenna.

“I think it’s helpful for young children to understand the differences between the two and that it’s okay to cry, whether you’re sad or happy,” he said.
“There are times when she’ll see me cry, maybe if I’m sad or because I’ve lost someone, and she’s trying to figure out what that means,” Morris continued. “And on this occasion, because I am laughing and crying, she is confused and makes fun of me.”
Speaking of their close relationship, New girl alum said, “She kind of has me around my finger. I try to be like, ‘No, this is not how it goes,’ but it always goes the way she wants.”
Morris joined for the fifth season Fargo as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr. While previously reflecting on his Emmy nomination, he hilariously reflected on his time on set.
“Thank you @TelevisionAcad for finally recognizing all my hard work New girl! Although I believe it’s a lock, I see I’m nominated alongside @RobertDowneyJr who stole my role in the A tropical thunderstorm. My fellow nominees and I will not let this go to waste,” he wrote in an Instagram post in July.
