Lamorne Morris Recalls the Awkward Moment He Walked Away from Julia Louis-Dreyfus Out of Fear He'd 'Embarrass Myself'

There’s a certain star power that Julia Louis-Dreyfus exudes — and not even Lamorne Morris is immune to it.

The New girl The alum, 41, recalled recently meeting the actress at a pre-Emmy party with his sister, who he said was “obsessed” with Louis-Dreyfus, 63. So naturally, she dragged Morris to meet Veep star.

“She says, ‘We have to go talk to her.’ And I said, ‘Absolutely not.’ Because I couldn’t think of anything smart and I was just like, I want to say something so stupid… I was going to embarrass myself and that’s going to be it,” Morris said on the Nov. 6 episode Crushed.

A nervous Louis-Dreyfus would “look at me and hate me forever,” Morris told his sister and Seinfeld the actress was having a “quite fun, casual conversation” in which he was “involved”, but when Louis-Dreyfus turned her attention to him, things took a turn for the worse.

“She asked me – I forget the question she asked me – but at that point I stopped talking, because I thought nothing was coming out,” he said.

The Saturday night The actor was admittedly “panicked” and in response did something he must have regretted.

“I’m not kidding — and I don’t know why I did this. She asked me something and I turned around and just went the other way,” Morris admitted. “My sister said, ‘I feel sorry for him.’ Like, five minutes later, she comes and finds me, and she’s like, ‘Wh… was that?’ I said, ‘I don’t know.'”

He joked: “Some days my brain says, ‘Just stay at home. Don’t talk to anyone’.”

Fangirl moments aren’t new for Morris, though, who during his 2024 Emmy acceptance speech for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for Fargogreeted fellow nominee Robert Downey Jr.

“My fellow nominee, Robert Downey Jr., I got your poster at my house,” he said. “Please sign. Seriously.”

As well as mentioning Iron Man, Morris’ heartfelt speech also saw him pay tribute to his “beautiful mother” who he said “has been my biggest champion” and also mentioned his four-year-old daughter Lily.

“I told you I would do it. You always doubted me,” he said, referring to the infamous video of his child mocking him for crying when he found out about the nomination.
