Lance Reddick, Treat Williams and Suzanne Somers Among Stars Left Out of Main In Memoriam Segment at 2024 Oscars

The 2024 Academy Awards had a powerful In Memoriam segment on Sunday, but not every deceased star got a full moment of recognition.

During Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, actors, filmmakers and individuals from the Hollywood industry who died in the past year were honored during a touching part of the show.

However, fans noticed that some stars were left out of the main segment, which included an individual slide with their photo, name and caption. Instead, a group of stars is listed at the end of one common slide.

Among these people were actors Lance Reddick, Treat Williams, Ron Cephas Jones, Suzanne Somers and Burt Young, legendary screenwriter and producer Norman Lear and British director Terence Davies.

Reddick was found dead in his home on March 17, 2023, a week before filming John Wick: Chapter 4 came out. 60-year-old actor — best known for his roles in Wire, BoschNetflix’s Resident Evil — died of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, according to his death certificate obtained by PEOPLE.

Williams, whose decades-long career has included roles in Hair, Everwood and Shores of the Chesapeakedied on June 12, 2023, aged 71, following a motorcycle accident in Dorset, Vermont.

Somers, best known for her roles on Three’s Company and Step by stepshe died at the age of 76 in October 2023 after a journey with breast cancer.

Set to a live performance of “Time to Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo Bocelli, the In Memoriam segment remembered late stars such as Matthew Perry, Chita Rivera, Ryan O’Neal and Tina Turner.

Celebrities such as Paul Reubens, Alan Arkin, Andre Braugher, Sinéad O’Connor and Tony Bennett are remembered for their contributions to the film.
