Last Look: Brooke Shields Featuring Daughters Rowan and Grier Henchy

Brooke Shields’ iconic (and controversial) 1980 Calvin Klein ad was one of the most successful marketing tools for denim… ever.

“You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing,” Shields said in the video, which further elevated the then-15-year-old actress (who starred in Blue lagoon same year) to the top of the pop culture stratosphere.

Now, more than 40 years later, nothing stands between Brooke and her girls. Who better than Queen Jean herself along with daughters Rowan Francis Henchy, 21, and Grier Hammond Henchy, 18, (whom Brooke shares with husband Chris Henchy), for all things style and beauty for People StyleWatchdenim problem.

Below, we caught up with the trio who were more than happy to answer a series of our burning quick questions – and poke fun at each other in the process.

The last pair of jeans you bought and loved

Brooke: Nili Lotan was the last pair of jeans – and I love them. Grier bought them for me unseen. Grier: Mine were low-waisted, light-wash, wide-leg RE/DONE jeans. Brooke: I thought you were going to say my closet. Rowan: Unfortunately, I don’t know the brand name, but the last pair of jeans I bought were really cool flared, high rise with buttons down the middle that look really good [with] little red cat.

Grier: Zadig’s shoulder bag [& Voltaire] which I bought, and I really like it because it can go with all basic combinations as something small, but pink and sparkling. Brooke: The red Chanel that I traded three other bags for. I have a guy. He calls me when something arrives. He said, “We have red Chanel,” [and] I only had to pay a little for it. Rowan: This isn’t funny and I haven’t bought it yet, but it’s in my shopping cart online on my phone. Brooke: With my credit card? Rowan: Yes, thank you. These are Rag & Bone jeans. Grier: Oh, they’re not crazy. Everyone has them. Brooke: Wait, what do you mean jeans with sweatpants? Grier: They’re so good. Rowan: They’re jeans, but they’re sweatpants. Grier: Sweans or jweats, jeans. They look like jeans, but they’re so soft.Brooke: You sweat? Grier: Jean sweats.Rowan: Jweats.Brooke: You just got canceled.

At least the TikTok hack you tried

Rowan: I’m a victim of consumerism, so I have a lot of these. Brooke: Oh, you’re a victim of consumerism, aren’t you? Grier: We both have Stanley cups, and we have Stanley cup ice cubes where the ice cube is shaped like your Stanley. It’s so stupid, but it’s so amazing because then they’re hollow in the middle so there’s room for your straw. Rowan: I was putting blush on my forehead. [Wearing] enough blush is now in. I’m going to outline my forehead and cheeks to make it look like I just sat in the sun and I’m perfectly tanned where I should be.

The final step in your save routine

Brooke: Ask what [my daughters] think. I say, “How do I look? Is this okay?” They both have their opinions. Rowan: I tend to cover my lips with a very dark lip liner. I think it looks great. Brooke: It’s very Jersey Shore. I am [that] in the eighties. Rowan: That’s my final one. And this is also a step that I continue to do throughout the night. Grier: I feel like you have to choose the jewelry after you put on the outfit. It’s if you want to go big or go simple, so I always throw on jewelry as I rush out the door. Brooke: She’s also the one who said at the age of four, “Mom, I believe in situational clothing.” I said, “What do you mean?” She said, “Well, if we’re somewhere near the water, I like to wear stripes. If we’re in Palm Beach, it’s important to wear Lilly Pulitzer. If we’re in New York, black is always good.” I asked myself, “Who are you?” Grier: Very specific from an early age. Brooke: Very specific.

Brooke: Leg warmers. Grier: Skinny, ripped jeans. Skinny jeans are slowly making a comeback with boots, which is fine. But skinny jeans with rips all the way through, absolutely not. Never. Rowan says, “Oh, I just bought a pair of those the other day.” Rowan: I’m going to say the answer that I think people would like me to say, which is capri pants. However, I have been working with jean capris for a while now. Grier: Oh, no. Rowan: And you know what? They’re coming back. They’re coming back. But I think maybe they could make a de-comeback for me. Brooke: Unless you’re Audrey Hepburn from the 50s and you dance. Rowan: Well, tomorrow’s outfit goes. Brooke: No, but it’s become a thing for the soccer mom, who has to go.Grier: But they’re capri leggings.Brooke: No, chinos.Grier: I feel like my jeans are capris on me. Brooke: Well, you have long legs, long, beautiful legs.

The last thing you stole from your mom’s closet

Rowan: She has a really cool, huge chunky gold necklace with a bunch of fun charms that I wore. Grier: Wait, I stole that. He was in my room every day. Brooke: It was just put back on my dresser. Rowan: I wore it last night. Grier: Yeah, I was going to say that. I think I pulled it to the top of the closet. That’s why they wear it now.

The last thing you stole from your daughters closet

Brooke: In my dreams I could fit into your clothes. Rowan: I was watching the morning TV show and you went on. After that I texted her: “Mom, that’s my shirt.” Brooke: No, that was the sweater I gave you. It was Gigi Hadid [line]Rowan: It was, yes. Guest in residence. It was a brown cashmere shirt with short sleeves. I texted her after I saw her and said, That’s mine. Brooke: I wore it with a leather skirt and boots … and I rocked it.
