Law Roach gets candid about his love life.
The 46-year-old image architect — who was joined by Keke Palmer and Normani during a panel discussion about his new book on Oct. 2 How to Build a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect — revealed during the conversation that he “never longed” for the love that can come from a partner.
“You know, some people go to bed dreaming of finding that other person, the person who makes them whole, or someone to hold them at night. I’ve never longed for that kind of love,” Roach said. “I truly believe that I was put on this Earth to be worshiped and loved by people in a different way.”

“That being said, if the universe wants to bless me with a man who is a billionaire or very close to it, you know, my heart is open to that,” he added. “But I never felt like it was my calling, and that’s okay. It’s the same way, not all women aspire to be mothers, right? And that’s okay, so it was just never my calling. ”
Roach then added that even though he’s “given the opportunity to retire and have time for self-reflection,” he still “feels the same way,” referring to his announcement in March 2023 that he was officially retiring from celebrity styling.
“You know, I need a glass of wine, good sex and a nap,” he said.

In response, Palmer told Roach that “the rom-com idea that this romantic love is the love you’re looking for” has since become “about [how] the love you have for yourself will make you healthy.”
“The kind of love we see on TV feels a little dated,” Roach replied. “Just because, you know, someone can pop in your DMs and give you a happy face, and before you know it, you’re all f——-.”
Roach’s comments on love come after his new book, which reveals “the secrets of his approach,” according to the synopsis, arrived on Tuesday, October 1. The new edition, according to the synopsis, highlights numerous “tips, tricks” of the image architect, and the most memorable style moments to show readers how to live their most picturesque and modern lives.”

Roach, who has curated looks for celebrities including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Megan Thee Stallion and Ariana Grande, spoke to PEOPLE during New York Fashion Week in September, when he revealed that he “couldn’t” choose his favorite Zendaya look.
“I can’t say I have a favorite because they all mean a lot,” he said on Christian Cowan’s show. “We’ve been together for over a decade and we’ve just looked at each other so much.”
Still, Roach said creating the look is “all about” confidence. “You can wear whatever you want, regardless of size, age, whatever. It’s all about confidence.”
