Behind Zendaya’s head-turning outfits lies Law Roach’s stylish touch.
But the stylist — who has collaborated with the Emmy winner, 28, on red carpet outfits since 2011 — exclusively told PEOPLE at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, Sept. 8, that he “can’t” pick his favorite Zendaya look.
“I can’t say I have a favorite because they all mean a lot,” Roach, 46, said on Christian Cowan’s show. “We’ve been together for over a decade and we’ve just looked at each other so much.”
“There are some that are super special, but it’s like calling your favorite child. You should never do that,” he explained further.

Roach, however, gave some insight into what makes the outfit stand out.
“Confidence. It’s all about confidence. You can wear whatever you want, regardless of size, age, whatever. It’s all about confidence,” he said, adding that people “can learn all about it” in his new book, How to Build a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect.
Among Roach’s fan-favorite collaborations is Zendaya Mugler’s topless robot bodysuit from 1995, which she wore during Dina: The second part press tour, which she later told Vogue she felt “really dizzy”.
“Right after wearing it for 10 minutes or less, I got really dizzy,” the actress said in April. “Metal conducts and retains heat very quickly and retains it. I wear a full bodysuit.”
Another standout moment for the duo came in 2019, when Zendaya wore a Tommy Hilfiger fairytale-inspired ball gown Cinderellawhich lit up when Roach waved a magic wand on the Met Gala red carpet.
Their longtime fashion network continued in 2021, when Zendaya wore a plunging Valentino Haute Couture cobweb dress to the red carpet premiere Spider-Man: No Way Hometo which she came with her boyfriend Tom Holland.

“She was always the one who advocated for me and made sure I was in those rooms where people thought I didn’t belong,” said the stylist. “Even as a young girl, I’m talking about 16, 17 years old. ”

Roach first styled Zendaya 13 years ago for Justin Bieber’s 2011 red carpet premiere. Never say never documentary. At the event, she wore a silver metallic blazer and a gray skirt over black tights.
“We’d sit in conference rooms with clients and companies and CEOs and they’d try to make me invisible and she’d say, ‘The law has something to say,’” Roach recalled. “It was like those little, tiny things that whenever someone tried to take power, she would give it right back to me.”
