Over the weekend, celebrity-loving tattoo artist Joaquin Ganga of Ganga Tattoo Studio in Los Angeles shared a clip on Instagram of James applying the artwork to the inside of his forearm.

“Olympic circles tattoo for king @kingjames. Thank you for everything bro,” Ganga wrote.

The post includes various clips of James looking calm, cool and collected as he gets his new ink, as this isn’t his first time in the tattoo chair. Among his other works is the Vanessa Aurelia snake tattoo that pays tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.

While James has participated in the iconic sporting event many times, this year’s proved to be particularly special for him later in his career.

“I am 39 years old and entering my 22nd year [NBA] season,” James told reporters, including PEOPLE, following Team USA Basketball’s win against France last month. “I don’t know how many opportunities and moments I’m going to get … just to be able to compete for something big and playing big games — and tonight was big game.”

The upcoming NBA season, which begins on October 22, will be James’ 22nd in the league. He will play alongside his 19-year-old son Bronny James for the Los Angeles Lakers, making them the first father-son duo to do so in NBA history.
