Lee Jung-jae, the South Korean veteran, is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios about a future project. “News” was first published by the Marvel Crave Twitter account, which continuously covers news about the comic book giant in all media.
On July 19, it was reported that the Squid Game actor was in talks with Marvel Studios, citing Daniel Richtman. Richtman is an industry insider known for uncovering fascinating information related to Marvel. Twitter users speculated whether the reports were true or not. They also tried to guess who the 49-year-old actor would portray.
Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae Said To Join Marvel Studios: Here’s Everything We Know So Far.
This isn’t the first time Marvel and Korean entertainment have collided, and hopefully it won’t be the last either. New franchise acquisitions are certain as the company is always innovating and expanding its multiple properties. Lee Jung-jae, the 49-year-old veteran South Korean actor who won Best Actor honors for Squid Game, could be the latest addition to the Marvel Universe. Of course, there is no official confirmation or denial of this news from any source, but social media is buzzing about this hypothetical venture.
One of the key topics of discussion is the role that Lee Jung-jae would play. Many people associate Mr. Negatives with the supervillain Martin Li. Twitter users are speculating that the Squid Game actor is playing a supervillain with a personality disorder. The antagonist, first seen in 2007’s Amazing Spider-Man #1, is the Crime Lord/Mr. Negative on the one hand, and kind, kind Martin Li on the other.

According to some fans, the latest movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, hinted at the possible entry of Mr. Negatives in the MCU. When Norman Osborn arrives for help, Aunt May is seen helping out at a soup kitchen called FEAST (Food, Emergency and Shelter Training). According to comics legend, FEAST is led by Martin Li. So, Marvel fans have enough proof of the debut of Mr. Negativea in live action.
In April this year, Stephen Oyoung, who portrays Mr. Negative in the PlayStation Spider-Man games, he launched a campaign to get Marvel to give him a live-action role as well. However, no official word has been released.
I love that all these “conversations” come out right before comic con 🤔🤔

Furthermore, Marvel has a history of hiring Korean performers. Park Seo-joon was just confirmed to appear in Captain Marvel 2 (after weeks of rumors and speculation), Ma Dong-seok played Gilgamesh in The Eternals, and Claudia Kim played Dr. Helen Cho in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
This rumor could be one of several that have come true, and it is most likely a PR trick. It is also uncertain whether Mr. Negative, if original, to be featured in a new series or very dangerous future Spider-Man movies in the MCU.
Whether true or not, it’s intriguing to see the MCU open its doors to representation. It may be a while before viewers find out if Lee Jung-jae will appear in the Marvel production.
