Levi Wright's Mom Says He Couldn't Be Weaned Off Sedation in Emotional Update: 'Heartbreaking to Watch'

Levi Wright’s mother shares an update on her toddler’s condition following his accident.

On Thursday, May 30, Kallie Wright, who shares son Levi, 3, with rodeo star Spencer Wright, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, revealing that their boy was back on sedation after he “didn’t cope” with withdrawal that and kept them “comfortable” while they waited for the next phase of his treatment.

“24-hour eeg [electroencephalogram]he didn’t tell us much different than the first time, but it was one of those things we felt we needed to do again,” Kallie wrote of Levi, who has been hospitalized in critical condition since driving his toy tractor into the Utah River on May 21 .

“They keep Levi comfortable, they tried to wean him off the sedatives, but he couldn’t take it. It was heartbreaking to watch and he is now heavily sedated until the next step,” she explained. “The MRI is tomorrow. It may show a difference from the first one, maybe not. We check and double check everything we can!”

“Again, Levi is our No. 1 priority in all of this. We have several conversations a day with doctors, rehabilitators, neurologists, etc. to help us serve him better! Kallie added.

The mother of three said that “many miracles have already surrounded us during this tragedy” as she thanked the public for their prayers and support for her family.

Kallie also noted the support she received from her husband during this difficult time.

“… I know many of you are worried about Spencer and me. I can say this with full confidence, I couldn’t do it without him,” she continued. “I already knew we made one hell of a team, but this shows how strong we really are together. If we don’t have each other then you can worry, but we have those we really need by our side!”

Levi Wright’s mother says family is ‘taking it one day at a time’: ‘It’s a rollercoaster’

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, May 28, Kallie shared an update on Facebook saying that Levi is “getting another 24 hour EEG which is now monitoring brain wave activity and has another MRI scheduled for Friday.”

“Our goal this week is to extubate him (remove his breathing tube) and see if he can tolerate breathing on his own!” she added. “Step by step.”

She previously said the family was “taking it one day at a time” following Levi’s devastating MRI results, which she discovered after he woke up on May 24.

“The MRI was not good, we are broken, but these are just images that suggest some quality of life,” she wrote in a May 24 post. “Our real indicator of everything will be what Levi does over the next few days.”
