Lexi Reed Wears a Pink Shirt to the Gym for the First Time: 'At 485 Lbs. All I Wanted to Do Was Wear Black'

The fitness influencer said that she previously opted for a dark color “so I looked smaller”

Lexi Reed has reached another milestone in her fitness journey – and this time it’s a fashion one.

“I’m wearing pink today and I’m mentally going, ‘What are you doing?'” Reed — wearing a vibrant pink crew-neck top — said in an Instagram video she shared Thursday on her Stories.

“Like, this is bright. You will stand out. Who are you? Who is she?’” Reed — aka, @fatgirlfedup on Instagram — said, adding, “I never wear bright colors or pink because I’m 485 lbs. All I wanted to do was wear black to make me look smaller. No stripes. No bright colors. Nothing.”

Reed – who weighed 485 lbs. when she and her husband Danny began their fitness journey in 2016 — she recently shared that she was just a few ounces away from weighing under 200 lbs. However, she admitted that changing her fashion aesthetic to her new size has been an adjustment.

“I own it and I’m going to accept it today, because I kind of like it. It grows on me,” Reed said, adding, “that’s why you always speak kindly to yourself because you’re always listening. So today will be a good day.”

The fitness influencer shared her health journey after her weight loss progress was derailed by a debilitating battle with calciphylaxis. It’s a rare disease that the Mayo Clinic explains occurs when “calcium builds up in the small blood vessels of fat and skin.”

It causes “blood clots, painful skin ulcers and can cause serious infections that can lead to death” – and for Reed, the often fatal disease led to 59 weeks of treatment for painful sores all over his body last year.

Although Reed stated, “I’m really quite terrified that my calciphylaxis is going to come back like it has for others with my disease,” she says, “I refuse to let that fear control me or waste days/time feeling it again.”
