LIAM Payne quit his record label Universal just days before his tragic death, according to reports.
The singer (31) died on Wednesday afternoon after falling from the balcony on the third floor of his hotel room in Argentina.

Pictures from inside his destroyed hotel room paint a harrowing picture as white powder and burnt aluminum foil cover the messy desk, while his TV screen is completely smashed.
Liam was reportedly acting “erratic” in the hours before his death, and a chilling 911 call from a hotel staff member described him being under the influence of drink and drugs and being aggressive.
It is now claimed that Liam’s music career suffered a major blow before the tragedy when his record company dropped him from their roster.
A source told the Mail: “Liam’s progress has been massive and he hasn’t recovered [it].
“Of all the guys in One Direction, Liam was on the wrong musical path.”
Liam’s second album has been put on hold after his latest solo single, Teardrops, failed to chart following its release in March.
Last month, Liam also parted ways with his longtime public relations manager.
The source continued: “It’s as if all of Liam’s music career that he’s built since going solo eight years ago is falling apart, leaving him with very little left.
– It must have completely destroyed him.
Following Liam’s death, Universal shared a statement on social media.

It said: “We are devastated by the tragic death of Liam Payne.
“His legacy will live on through his music and the countless fans he inspired and adored.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Liam’s family and loved ones.”
The star appeared in a good mood during his stay in South America in the days before his death. He watched bandmate Niall Horan perform in Buenos Aires before enjoying some fun with girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
He was caught on video talking to fans and comparing tattoos outside the hotel in the days before the tragedy.
Kate’s girlfriend left the country a few days ago, after becoming restless for two weeks in the same place.
It was reported overnight that Liam may have been unconscious when he fell to his death.
An autopsy of the One Direction star showed that he died from severe injuries sustained in the fall, but that he did not assume a reflex position.

Prosecutors said that given this position, the position he was found in and the injuries he sustained, he may have been partially or fully unconscious when he fell.
An autopsy revealed that Liam died after “internal and external bleeding” caused by severe injuries.
He was found dead in the courtyard of the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo at around 5pm local time (9pm UK time).
Argentine police are currently waiting for more tests to determine the details of the singer’s death.
Photos released by local media show the interior of his luxury suite on the day he died, with traces of white powder and aluminum foil on the table.
Buenos Aires police confirmed the room was in a state of “total disarray”.
They published a statement that reads: “When entering, a complete mess was observed, various elements were broken.
“The balcony area was inspected to establish access to it.”
Comes as:
Clarin, Argentina’s largest newspaper, published the pictures alongside a report that read: “Damage and drugs in the hotel room where Liam Payne stayed in Buenos Aires.”
The singer has been open about his struggles with addiction in the past.
But police are yet to confirm what substances were found in the room and will be testing them soon.
His One Direction bandmates released a joint statement before handing out their individual accolades.
The group said in a statement: “We are completely devastated by the news of Liam’s death. There will be more to say in time, and when everyone is able to.
“But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our dearly loved brother.
“We will cherish the memories we shared with him forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans who loved him with us.
“We will miss you terribly. We love you Liam. – Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry.”
