The former One Direction star died in Argentina after falling from a hotel balcony this afternoon.

In a Snapchat shared an hour after local news reported his death, the singer posted photos of his food and detailed his plans to play polo.
He filmed his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 25, while they were having breakfast, revealing they were staying at a friend’s home.
In the footage, Liam is seen addressing the camera saying: “This is the breakfast table, I’m just enjoying my breakfast and coffee even though it’s 1pm.”
Katie is heard in the background joking that the two of them are “losers” for staying up so late.
Liam adds: “We’re driving today. I think I’ll be playing polo again, which will put me out of action for about six weeks.
“Honestly, polo, of everything I’ve ever done in terms of sports, it’s not that I’m playing polo professionally, by the way, I just had a little fun.
“It’s so hard to do, number one. Number two, my back and my neck from swinging that hammer around, or sledgehammer, I think it’s called, if you know, it’s polo language.”
He is later recorded saying, “I look like the Joker, my hair’s gone a little crazy.”
Liam goes on to film his girlfriend and their dog watching Jimmy Carr on TV in another post, asking fans to write him a caption.
He then poses shirtless with Kate for a mirror selfie, before they get together for the video.

The Strip That Down hitmaker admires a picture at his friend Gon’s house, where he tells fans he’ll be staying.
“It’s a beautiful day here in Argentina. Yes. It hurts a lot. It’s very hard,” he says of playing polo again.
“But we’re enjoying ourselves here at our dear friend Gon’s house. Shout, Gon, wherever Gon is. Shout, Gon. Big bad Gon.”
Liam also admires the tree painting in the house.
He says: “I envy things like this, as far as taking pictures. Once again, shot from behind. It’s really beautiful. So yeah, that’s what we’re doing today.”
“This was the first wheel ever invented,” Liam adds of the home’s decoration.
The pop star was in Buenos Aires on tour with friend Niall Horan when he tragically fell from the third floor this afternoon, TMZ reported.
A source later confirmed to The Sun that Liam had died.
Liam stayed at the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo district, according to local media.
A red tent has reportedly been erected over the body as police begin an investigation into the death.
The police were called to “an aggressive man who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” according to local media.
But when they arrived, they found Liam dead.
Witnesses said Liam smashed his laptop and had to be carried into his room after the incident.
The 31-year-old rose to fame through the boy band and then pursued a solo career after the group disbanded.
Liam was part of One Direction between 2010 and 2015 and released one solo album in 2019 – LP1.
The Sun revealed last week that Liam had parted ways with his management and put plans for a second solo album on hold.
Earlier this week, Liam’s ex Maya Henry called in lawyers after she accused Liam of repeatedly texting her, her friends and her mum.
Liam made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for The X Factor in 2008.
After being eliminated as a solo artist, he auditioned again in 2010 and was placed in a group with four other contestants to form One Direction.
Liam dated singer Cheryl Cole, and the couple welcomed a child named Bear in 2017.
They divorced in 2018 before he was linked to supermodel Naomi Campbell in 2019.
He had a three-year relationship with ex-fiancée Maya Henry, which ended for good in May 2022.
The singer spoke openly about his struggle with drugs.
In 2021, he blamed a “pill and booze phase” for his facial bloat to be “ten times bigger”, while also revealing that he used to swallow the contents of his mini bar when band bosses checked the guys into hotels to keep fans away.
