Lil Nas X Drops Electrifying Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Theme Song 'Here We Go!'

Lil Nas X is ready to rule the summer with an electrifying new single!

The rapper released the theme song for the upcoming Netflix movie Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F on Friday, June 28 under the title “HERE WE ARE!”

The song pays tribute to 1984 Beverly Hills Cop movie by including a sample of the original theme song “Axel F” written and performed by Harold Faltermeyer while also offering one of Lil Nas X’s catchy tunes.

Throughout the track, Lil Nas X, 25, recites confidence-building lyrics like, “Move over, tell them to make room / tell them to make a way / tell them to make a hole / tell them boys to hide better / tell them to keep quiet / tell them to play it safe because we don’t play at all.”

Lil Nas X previously called the song one of the “best” songs he’s ever made.

“So excited to release the greatest song of all time this Friday! Also sorry I’ve been so intimidated by my art lately. I’m coming to my senses again. I’m going to make you all very proud,” he wrote in post on Xformerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, June 25.

He echoed similar sentiments in an interview with Netflix, in which he expressed that working on the song was “actually kind of crazy” and made him “a little bit emotional.”

“I’m happy to do it. I hope I don’t get killed by people who love the original,” he added as he sat with some of the film’s stars, including Eddie Murphy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The upcoming film, available to watch on Netflix on Wednesday, July 3, follows detective Axel Foley (Murphy) “back on the beat in Beverly Hills.”
