Lila Moss Says She Was ‘15 or 16’ Before Realizing Mom Kate Moss Was ‘Pretty Cool’

Kate Moss and her daughter Lila Grace Moss have been honest about their relationship.

The mother-daughter duo featured on the cover of British VogueGreat Britain: Tradition and Revolution is about how a model’s career affected motherhood and her daughter’s perception of her.

During the interview, Kate explained how she juggled modeling in 2002 with becoming a mother to her daughter — whom she shares with Jefferson Hack. “Of course, I continued to work after I had Lila, but I moved most of my work to the UK. and kept him away from the craziness of the sets and backstage and everything,” the 49-year-old shared.

“It didn’t take long for her to realize she wanted mom to be mom, not a model in a wig.”

Lila explained that her mother followed and separated them so much that she didn’t realize how famous her mother was.

The young model told how she started counting on her mother’s fame and career when she started school.

“I started to realize how fascinated people were with ‘Kate Moss, the supermodel,'” admitted Lila. “It wasn’t until I was, like, 15 or 16 that I started to realize that she might actually be pretty cool.”

“She always kept her work life separate from our home life,” Lila said. “Though I do have one memory of her taking me with her to a meeting at Topshop, and everything came to a screeching halt as she tried to teach me how to blow. bubble gum for the first time.”

The 22-year-old admitted that she saw her mother as “a person who would not allow [her] use [her] phone at the table and made [her] get home from parties in Notting Hill earlier than any [her] friends.”

She explained that after she expressed an interest in art and design, her father triggered the realization that her mother could be cool.

“Dad said to me, ‘You do realize that your mom has a lot of works by some of these artists that you love in her house, right? Marc Quinn, Francis Bacon, Damien Hirst…'”

After Lila realized her mother’s passion for art and design, Kate was “fully supportive of every decision” Lila made — including her modeling venture.

“I don’t know if my mum expected me to go into fashion, really – I’m quite shy, like her.” Lila added: “She didn’t help me walk though. She says, ‘You just have to feel it. I do not know what to do. I just do it!’ I said, ‘Cool – go practice some more, then…'”
