Lindsay Hubbard shares her side of the story about her split with Carl Radke.
In Wednesday’s episode Viall files podcast, the Summer house The 36-year-old star revealed where she and her ex-fiancé stood before he abruptly ended their relationship and why she thinks it didn’t work out in the end.
“When I tell you the whole world is within 30 minutes of me, it’s been chaotic and hectic,” Hubbard told host Nick Viall of breaking news that she and Radke, 38, were no longer walking down the aisle.
She continued: “All of a sudden I had to hide because I had to protect my privacy and I had to sort out my emotions and I had to get over the shock of it all.”
Hubbard confirmed that Radke broke up with her on camera without any warning, saying, “It was like the ultimate surprise of the year, at least for me. There was no indication that he had second thoughts or was unhappy.”

Viall, 43, then addressed co-star Kyle Cooke’s claim that she and Radke “have been in couples therapy on and off since they actually started dating.” Hubbard clarified that they sought couples therapy “about a year into their relationship,” which was in November 2022.
“He was going through a very difficult time with his job at Loverboy.” explained Radke. “He was very unhappy. Our communication was broken. Our honeymoon phase was over.”
– That day we were supposed to go to couple’s therapy – she said about the day when Radke broke off the engagement. “He didn’t give me a clue. He didn’t say anything that implied ‘I have cold feet or I’m changing my mind or I’m not ready or I think we need more time.’ He didn’t say anything to me over the summer. He didn’t say anything that gave any indication.”
Insisting that it was a “complete blinding whiplash,” Hubbard said of the two weeks leading up to the split: “Suddenly I had to change everything about myself to be with him.” She added that Radke allegedly told her to be “softer and more caring, more caring and loving and positive” when the topic of their future together – including career and children – came up.
Hubbard claimed that Radke then told her, “I don’t want my wife’s role to be someone who asks questions and gives advice and has an opinion.” This confused her considering how long they had known each other and how loud she had been since they started dating.

“I’m just not sure he had the tools to fully understand what a partnership is,” Hubbard added. “I haven’t heard back from him.”
Then she referred to rumors that Radke was unfaithful and that he ended things because of that. “I don’t think he cheated,” he said. “I don’t think that happened. I don’t think there was a big moment. I just don’t think he fully understands commitment and what it takes to be in a relationship.”
Referring to how Radke consulted with production and canceled their couples therapy appointment the day he broke the news, Hubbard said she didn’t realize what was happening until “words got out.”
“I don’t think I reacted the way he wanted me to react. And as soon as he said, ‘You’re not taking me seriously,’ I looked at him and realized, ‘Oh, he wants me to plead and beg him and say, ‘No, no, no , don’t do that. I’ll change. I’ll do whatever you need. Don’t call off the wedding,'” she said.
“That’s what he wanted from me. But that’s not me and that’s never me,” she continued. “As soon as he said, ‘You’re not even taking me seriously’ at that point, I knew this weird fucking situation that felt like he was using the cameras to threaten me.”

Radke shared the news — and apologized for any confusion or inconvenience — in a letter to the former couple’s wedding guests obtained by PEOPLE.
“Words cannot describe how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I,” he wrote in part. “There have been a lot of fake stories and misunderstandings that have made this even more painful, but unfortunately we are not moving forward with the wedding at this time. The fact is Lindsay is devastated and I am devastated at how this has all happened. I am asking for a little patience and grace. to heal and recover as we go through this extremely difficult time.”
Shortly after announcing their split, Hubbard opened up about the breakup on social media, thanking her followers for giving her the time and space to “grieve the loss of not only my relationship, but my friendship with someone I considered my best friend for 8 years . ”
“The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “My whole life and future was ripped out from under me and it was hard for me to make sense of it all – with no answers or conclusion as to why.”
“I feel humiliated by how this happened and at the same time heartbroken that it happened at all,” she continued. “My trust was betrayed and it was hard for me to come to terms with that.”
