Lionel Scaloni is a former soccer player and professional soccer manager born in Argentina. He is the current coach of Argentina and the national team. He was a former footballer who spent most of his professional career in the Spanish football club Deportivo La Coruna, primarily in the position of right midfielder.

Scaloni attributes his success to his parents
Scaloni was born in the province of Santa Fe, in the town of Pujato, to Angelo and Eulalia Scaloni. H attributes his success to his dear parents and never fails to acknowledge them for his achievements. His older brother Mauro accompanied him on his football journey. Their father Angel initially coached and kept them at Newell’s Old Boys in 1994 before moving them to Estudiantes de La Plata in 1996. They were transferred to Deportivo La Coruna shortly after winning the U20 World Cup in Malaysia.
Lionel was loaned to West Ham United in 2006 before moving to Racing Santander, followed by Italian club Lazio, where he spent five years before being loaned to Mallorca for 18 months. How did he get the position of coach of the Argentine national team in the first place?
After retiring from football, Scaloni became the coach of the Argentine U20 team. He was allowed to remain as interim manager for six months. The Argentine Football Association (AFA) called him when they were in L’Alcudia for the U20 tournament and asked if he could oversee two games.
Pablo Aimar was with him at the time and informed Scaloni that Pablo would go with him if he was leaving.
