Lisa Ann Walter Reveals What She Bought with Her Abbott Elementary Pay Raise: ‘I Couldn’t Afford It’ Before (Exclusive)

Lisa Ann Walter is a home owner again!

The 61-year-old actress told PEOPLE at the Warner Bros. Fall TV event. Television Group with Fenty Beauty in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 10, as she spends part of her Abbott Elementary School salary, including buying a house.

“Yeah, we’ve got a little more money in there and all the Hot Pockets we could eat,” Walter said jokingly when asked about the significant pay raises that Abbott Elementary School honor reportedly earned before season 4.

“I did something this year that I haven’t been able to do in many, many years since the last one was a divorce – and that’s buy a house,” she continues. “I couldn’t afford it in Los Angeles, even as a working actress.”

Walter had only lived in the house for a week and “already had a flood and had to replace the water heater,” she adds.

According to Deadline, the main cast has renegotiated their contracts, with some cast members doubling or tripling their previous salaries.

Walter, Janelle James and Chris Perfetti will now earn $200,000 per episode, while Tyler James Williams and Sheryl Lee Ralph will earn $250,000, the site reported. Series creator Quint Brunson’s acting salary has reportedly risen to somewhere between $350,000 and $400,000 per episode, Deadline shared.

Walter stars as second grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti on the popular ABC series. Between shooting seasons, Walter spends time with his family.

“Last year, I did something for my family that I couldn’t do for, say, 15 years, and that was to take them on vacation,” A trap for parents explains the star. “It was a really nice vacation [in Europe].”

“I went to Sicily with my sister [Laura]and we saw the birthplace of my ancestors,” says Walter, who is of Sicilian and Alsatian descent.

The vacation continued with her children, their significant others, and Walter’s first husband, Sam Baum, in Rome and Venice, before further stops.

“Then we went to Florence and they were completely blown away by the art and history,” says Walter. “I feel like they got a lot out of it and then we went to Lyon and ended up in Paris for a week, which is where the other side of my family is from. So, I consider it an educational trip. We ate and drank and went to shows and museums, and it was magnificent.”

4th season Abbott Elementary School premiered October 9 on ABC, with new episodes arriving every Wednesday. Seasons 1 through 3 are on Hulu.
