Lisa Rinna Says Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ‘Made Me a Better Actor’ but She’d ‘Never’ Go Back

Lisa Rinna found an unexpected use for her time The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

During the performance at Show Jennifer Hudson that aired Friday, the 60-year-old star looked back on her 8-year run on the Bravo series, revealing that it was a positive experience for her acting career.

“It made me a better actress,” said Rinna, who returned to scripted series after leaving the reality show. “I’m acting again [and] I’m not kidding — you’re laughing, but it’s the truth. I think it made me a better actor.”

She moved on to the reference Mom the Baddestthe upcoming Lifetime film in which she stars alongside daughter Delilah Belle Hamlin, 25. Inspired by true events, the film tells the story of a teenage girl who is secretly bullied by her own mother online.

“Working with those women, going through that experience… I just made a movie called Mom the Baddest, which I trained for 8 years on that show,” Rinna said. “I definitely did and I had a lot to draw from. I have a lot to draw from after working on that Different Psychologies of Different Women series for 8 years, I never would have come across it if I hadn’t done that series.”

The revelation came when Hudson, 42, asked Rinna if she would ever consider returning to RHOBH.

“No, never. No, I wouldn’t,” Rinna said quickly. “I’m thankful for that show. I’m the person I am today because of it, but I’m never going back. No, I made it. I did, I made it, I saw the movie.”

Rinna – who also shares daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin, 22, with husband Harry Hamlin, 72 – announced that she is leaving RHOBH exclusively with PEOPLE in January 2023, after Season 12 airs. She left the series after her contract expired, s RHOBH even showing her resignation letter in a season 13 episode.

“This is the longest job I’ve held in my 35-year career, and I’m grateful to everyone at Bravo and everyone involved with the show,” Rinna said in a statement. “It’s been a fun eight years and I’m excited for what’s to come!”

The former soap star joined the series in its fifth season, which premiered in 2014. Over the years, she has created some of the most legendary moments in the entire world Real Housewives franchises, incl a struggle to remember in which she broke a wine glass after then-co-star Kim Richards hinted that Rinna didn’t want anything to be known about her husband.

After Rinna’s departure made headlines, she told PEOPLE she was surprised by the kind things viewers had to say about her legacy on the show

“I didn’t expect it, I really didn’t,” Rinna said in February 2023. “That’s the most unexpected thing about it all. I thought people were going to be mostly like, ‘Thank God we got her fired’ — and some did.” and were, don’t get me wrong. But most of it was love.”

“Even the way people were describing my eight years on the show, with words like ‘legend, icon, GOAT’ — I said to Harry, ‘There are things you’d only be able to hear if you died!'” she joked. “And that’s how I felt: like I died, but I didn’t, and I saw all the things people would say about me at my funeral.”
