News about Lisa Watier

According to Anne-Marie Croteau, dean of Concordia’s John Molson School of Business, “Women who are strong leaders have four characteristics that they all share: courage, ambition, resilience and education.” She said so during the graduation ceremony of the Let’s Start Up program, which took place virtually on September 22.

The Lisa Watier Foundation, Concordia Continuing Education (CCE) and several local organizations have collaborated to offer the Let’s Start Up Program, a free 18-week course that supports women entrepreneurs.

Croteau told the 84 graduates: “I think all of you share those qualities. “It takes a lot of courage to start a business, especially during a pandemic.”

In addition to awarding program diplomas to participants, the event served as the official presentation of the Concordia-Lise Watier Spreading Your Wings Award. Graduates who choose the entrepreneurial path of the Let’s Start Up program will receive a $5,000 scholarship each year.

Starting with the first recipient this year, it will be available for ten years, up to a maximum grant amount of $50,000.

The Lisa Watier Foundation states that the purpose of the scholarship is to help the recipient “give wings” to her business.

Let’s Start Up has been helping women build confidence and create action plans through specialized training and one-on-one counseling since its founding in 2017. Its ultimate goal is to help people achieve financial independence through growing their business, better employment opportunities. or the pursuit of higher education.

Richer noted in her acceptance video: “I am delighted to have won the Concordia-Lise Watier Spreading Your Wings Award.

During the ceremony, Isabel Dunnigan, associate vice president of lifelong learning and executive director of CCE, praised Richer’s project. She highlighted her inventiveness and said that this year’s grant will support a specific, well-defined and concrete project. Dunnigan also sent congratulations to all the graduates.
