Liza Minnelli is aging gracefully and now she’s sharing some tips.
In a rare conversation for Interview magazine, the 78-year-old emphasized the importance of prioritizing your physical well-being.
“I have one piece of advice: Take care of your body because you might live longer than you expect,” said the EGOT winner. “I just keep changing parts and moving forward. Just deal with it and be happy, and as Dick Van Dyke sang and taught me, ‘Put on a Happy Face.’ ”
Additionally, in the cover story, Minnelli — daughter of Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli — shared that there are many misconceptions people have about her and her life.
“They read trash and scumbags and don’t know that my life is really beautiful,” she admitted. “It is full of loved ones, laughter, creativity and emotional and financial security. People use crazy stories as a weapon, it’s fucking boring. I don’t think people understand how close a family we are.”

“Sometimes it hurt my feelings, but your job as an artist is to not listen to them and do what you do and what they can’t do,” she added.
That attitude is partly what she wants to be remembered for.
“I made my own path,” she told the newspaper. “I worked and still work as hard as anyone can, and I love every single person who supported me and cared about me. I love to perform. I still take dance lessons, and when I sing to people in the theater, I’m not performing — I’m sharing my love with each and every person. I ask: ‘This is how I feel. What about you? My work is real.”
