Lizzo put the rumors to rest on social media and continued to share her personal fitness journey.
The four-time Grammy winner, 36, responded to an Instagram follower on Friday, Sept. 20, who asked if she was taking Ozempic — an FDA-approved prescription drug for people with type 2 diabetes — in an effort to lose weight.
In the carousel post, Lizzo included a video of herself smiling for the camera, along with a sassy caption.
“When you finally get Ozempic charges after 5 months of weight training and a caloric deficit,” she captioned the clip to the soundtrack of Christoph Waltz’s popular TikTok sound in Django Unchained saying, “It’s like a reward”.
The “Juice” singer then shared a screenshot of an Instagram comment from one of her followers who asked, “Did she use Ozempic or snort coke.”
“‘OZEMPIC OR COKE?’ – fangirl 😭😭😭,” Lizzo captioned the post, showing that she also replied to the person in her comments section, “Why are you following me?😭😭😭😭.”
Lizzo talks exercise, focusing on her health without ‘trying to escape fat’
In recent months, Lizzo — who teased that she’s been making “the BEST music of my life” in the studio lately — has given fans a few behind-the-scenes looks at how she’s been staying active during what she calls a “gap year.” She showed off doing everything from arm exercises in the gym to skipping rope on the balcony.
In a TikTok video posted on Thursday, September 19, the musician showed off her toned physique while wearing a look from her shapewear brand Yitty in a before-and-after look at her transformation. She captioned the video with the viral Nicki Minaj TikTok sound saying, “The fact that you’re even discussing my looks is insane. I’m a bad bitch, I’ve always been a bad bitch.”
“Good both ways 😮💨,” Lizzo captioned the clip.

Showing off her hard work in the gym, Lizzo also shared some encouraging messages with her fans. Last month, the “Truth Hurts” singer wrote, “If you’re reading this… remember you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to! Stay focused, you got this 💪🏾.”
Back in May, Lizzo shed some light on her fitness journey, stressing in a TikTok clip that she’s “not trying to escape fat” and that once she “started exercising for my mental health,” exercise helped “change my mind.”
“I have a very high-performing job,” she explained. “For 90 minutes a night, I have to do choreography, I have to sing, I have to dance, I have to rap and I have to play the flute. And I have to emotionally challenge the audience in very tight clothes, sometimes clothes that restrict my breathing.”
“It’s fun. I love my job. But it takes a lot of physical stamina to do what I do, and I used to be a rock star and throw myself on stage,” Lizzo continued. “As I became more and more professional in my career, I started to take the physical part more seriously.”
