Lizzo is grieving the loss of her beloved dog Pook, who died on Christmas Eve.
The “About Damn Time” singer shared the sad news on Instagram on Monday, writing, “We will always love you Pooka Diamanté Jefferson. 4•10•2005 – 12•24•2023.”
The tribute included a photo of her mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, holding the canine as Lizzo and her sister, Vanessa Jefferson, look adoringly at Pook.
Condolences poured in for the deceased dog in the comments on the post.
“Wait no!! I’m so honored to have met you🥲😞,” wrote SZA.

She also shared a carousel of 10 photos highlighting her cherished moments with Pook, and even took a look at a keepsake with Pook’s paw print.
“I’m so sorry,” wrote one commenter on her second post. “The loss of a pet is the loss of a family member. That empty space will take a long time to feel full and safe again. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to grieve.”

“Hi. I’m working… on music, myself, relationships with people and food, my anxiety, my body, my work and my trust issues in the world… but now they’re deep, deeper than ever. Xoxo,” she wrote with a photo.
The singer, who was sued by several of her former backup dancers this summer, vowed to “continue to be who I am, no matter who’s watching” amid her legal troubles.

“It’s easy to do the right thing when everyone’s watching, and what you do in the moments when no one is watching is what defines who you are,” Lizzo said in her speech when she was presented with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at Black 2023 Gala Music coalition action in September. “I will continue to be who I am, no matter who is looking at me.”
