Lloyd Owen Plays As A Intriguing Elendil In “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

Lloyd Owen, a highly regarded British actor and theatre artist, has been cast as Elendil, one of the most prominent characters in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a new fantasy series. In a podcast with PEOPLE, Owen disclosed facts about a fan-favorite character from The Lord of the Rings series, among other things. In The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Lloyd Owen will portray the fascinating Elendil. Isildur’s father is Elendil, a Nmenórean sailor who would lead the ultimate union of Men and Elves.

What did Lloyd Owen reveal about the storyline of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power?

In a podcast with PEOPLE, Owen explained the narrative of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. He stated:

“If you just know the films based on the novels, that’s a really dark period in Middle Earth history. There isn’t much left for everyone,… So you’re locked in that one part of the planet, that part of Middle-earth. In this period, thousands of years prior, you’ll discover a plethora of civilizations at the pinnacle of their abilities, on top of their game.”

Lloyd Owen went on to say:

“So you see the dwarves of Khazad-dûm, who are virtually gone in the third age, and their minds at the pinnacle of their power, the elves at the pinnacle of their strength, Nmenor at the pinnacle of its might.”

The actor also confirmed that Sméagol, a fan-favorite character from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, would not feature in the forthcoming prequel series since the emphasis of the series is on the genesis tale, and Sméagol emerges much later. He said, ”

“He is not present. I’m scared. There is no Sméagol…. It outlines how the trip takes place. In this presentation, we are really constructing the rings before he discovers them,… That’s the fun of it: here is where it all starts.”
