A television personality lost her battle with breast cancer as husband Tom paid tribute
The sad news comes months after the producer – who worked on Lorraine’s morning show – revealed her cancer had recently returned.
Mum-of-one Hannah gave birth to baby Rory with her loving husband Tom just a few weeks ago.
Paying tribute to her late friend, Lorraine, 63, opened her show with a heartfelt message after sharing the “saddest news” on Instagram.
The Scotland star said: “We have very sad news about a beloved member of our team.
“Our producer Hannah Hawkins passed away just before the weekend, after discovering her cancer had returned just a few months ago, not long after giving birth to her beautiful baby boy Rory.
“She’s been amazing at raising awareness and money for breast cancer.”
“Too young, too soon. It’s really hard for all of us.”
Hannah tragically passed away the day before she celebrated her husband Tom’s birthday.
The grieving husband poured out his heart on social media and saluted his “extraordinary” wife and partner of 13 years.
He wrote: “There is no way to honor you or sum you up in one post. I could write an essay on how unfair this is.
“That you’re missing out on seeing Rory grow up, that he won’t be able to feel his mom’s love and that this horrible disease took hold so quickly. But you didn’t see it that way.
“The remarkable person you were, the phrase you used so many times in the last few weeks – and it moved me every time; ‘I’m so at peace with the life I’ve lived’ is something we can all admire.
“The fact that until the very end you put other people’s feelings first and made us laugh was just your thing.
“Your life can be defined simply by love, friendship and strength, and I will make sure that these are the cornerstones of Rory’s life.
“I want him to know how much everyone loved his mom and how much love you gave.
“As he would say to me in any of my dark moments, ‘remember you are so loved.’
“I want her to know that you’re someone who can walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with lifelong friends and that our social calendar was always so full that we couldn’t physically fit in all the ones we wanted to see.
“I also want him to know the courage you showed every day, facing everything life threw at you with the strength of a warrior, with a smile on your face and a laugh in your eyes.
“This is the legacy you leave our little boy, this and more.”
A host of well-wishers also flocked to Tom’s Instagram page with an outpouring of kind messages and support.
