Love Is Blind’s AD Had a ‘Few Conversations’ with Matthew After His Shocking Move in the Pods (Exclusive)

Warning: This story contains spoilers from episodes 1-6 Love is blind season 6

It only took one episode Love is blind season 6 to deliver another shocking love triangle — and now, Amber Desiree “AD” Smith is shedding some light on what really happened behind the scenes.

Although she had an awkward start with Matthew Dulib inside the pods, the two quickly formed a bond after AD was able to see through his rough exterior. But things changed when AD discovered that Matthew had also formed a relationship with Amber Grant – and was saying the exact same things to her.

After the drama unfolded, both Amber and Matthew left the show, while AD continued to pursue her relationship with Clay Gravesande. And despite their own ups and downs, Clay and AD eventually became engaged.

Following Matthew’s shocking capsule betrayal, AD, 32, tells PEOPLE that she has since communicated with the 37-year-old senior financial advisor and that there is no bad blood between them.

“I don’t regret my little love triangle,” she says. “I think I did the best and made the best decisions I could at that moment.”

“I’ve had a few conversations with Matthew,” she continues. “It went well. Matthew has a very interesting way of getting his point across. And so, I didn’t force it, I didn’t get anything out of him. He said what he wanted to say, and we talked, and we moved on.”

During one of their dates in episode 1, Matthew told AD that he wanted to ask for her father’s blessing before proposing. He also told her: “Give me your word: If you want to go, I’ll go with you … I’ll take you to the top of a mountain and propose to you, I don’t care. Just say, ‘Matthew, let’s get out of here'”

When asked if she would tell anyone else what he said, AD replied that she would “simmer in it” because “I just love this moment. I just want it to be mine and ours.”

“I think Matthew is the sweetest, kindest, most genuine soul here,” she said in the confessional after their date. – We don’t often see them like him.

But later that day, Amber, 31, revealed to AD that she “had a good date” with Matthew, revealing: “He talked about asking my dad [for his blessing] and if he can’t do it, we can leave [the show]. I said, ‘I’m fine with that, and I’ll go.'”

AD was understandably shocked to hear this since everything Matthew told her was “almost verbatim” of his conversation with Amber.

“It’s not that I don’t want you to talk to her, but also explicitly s— where I’m crying to you like a fucking idiot? What are you doing?” AD dropped his colleague Alejandra, 27, inside the women’s room.

When she confronted Matthew about similar conversations, AD told him, “I left here feeling so validated and so confident, and hearing the things you were saying really blew me away. She was very open and honest about the things you were saying and it sounded exactly like you told me.”

Matthew claimed this was “not true” and insisted that “some of the things I said to you were much deeper than what I said to her”. He also told AD that if he had to decide that day, he would choose her.

Later in the ladies’ quarters, Amber and AD finally confronted each other and confirmed that Matthew had said the same things to both of them just hours apart. After the two cried and hugged, Amber announced that it was “time to retire” and left the show.

AD then entered the pods for another date with an upset Matthew. The two talked, but he ended up stating that it was “not fair” that he couldn’t “commit to the plan you want,” in part because AD also had a relationship with Clay, so he left the show as well.

Before leaving the room, AD sarcastically remarked that she sounded “broken” and asked if it was because Amber left. In response, Matthew said: “Yeah, I feel like I broke someone’s heart on national TV … and then I did the same thing to you yesterday.”

Stunned by his answer, the AD came out. Back in the men’s quarters, Matthew repeated, “I’m done, I’m going to get Amber.”

At this point, it’s unclear if Matthew and Amber will ever reconnect outside of the groups. As for AD, she and Clay are currently engaged and enjoying their vacation in Punta Cana before returning to reality in Charlotte, North Carolina.
