Love Is Blind’s AD Reveals She Went on 2 Dates with Matthew After He Told Her and Amber Same Thing in Pods

Warning: This story contains spoilers from the Season 6 reunion Love is blind.

After Clay Gravesande said “I don’t” at the altar in the Season 6 finale, Amber Desiree “AD” Smith briefly reconnected with her second relationship in Love is blind pod, Matej Duliba.

During Love Is Blind: The Reunion – which aired on Netflix on Wednesday – AD, 33, revealed that she and Matthew, 37, went on two dates after filming, despite the drama that unfolded on the show when he said the same things to her and Amber Grant in capsules.

“Matthew and I, we went on a few dates. Like two dates,” she said. “The first one he wanted to apologize to me. He was heartbroken; he was very, very upset about the way it all played out and the way he felt like he played to both of our faces.”

AD said Matthew was “a little sweet” to her during that first date and revealed that on their second date he “ended up cooking dinner” of rice and chicken.

However, the AD eventually said that things had picked up. “We live two completely different ways of life,” she explained. “He’s very disciplined … he’s extremely punctual, every minute is planned, whereas I’m a bit in the wind, and he just wants different things and I want the same thing, and we just left it at that.”

Clay was then asked about his reaction to their brief rekindling, saying that he bore no ill will toward Matthew. “At the end of the day, it’s an experiment and Matt did it the way he did it. I don’t want to hear Matt backstab, he’s not here… I respected Matt and I don’t have anything bad to say.”

AD also clarified that her emotions in the capsules weren’t centered on the fact that Matthew said the same thing to Amber, but how he dismissed the importance of her personal story.

“I shared something so intimate with my father who died… So when [Amber] He comes and has the same story, as far as dad goes, that really shook me because at the time I thought my story was out of date,” she said.

The first few episodes of season six took a shocking twist when it was revealed that Matthew – who had told AD he was ready to leave with her and wanted to ask her father for permission to marry her – had been saying the same things to Amber.

When his actions were revealed, both Amber and Matthew left the show, while AD continued to pursue her relationship with Clay. Despite their own ups and downs, Clay, 31, and AD became engaged but ultimately did not marry.

After the drama with Matthew unfolded, Amber spoke to PEOPLE and said she has since spoken to him and there was no bad blood.

“I’ve had a few conversations with Matthew,” she said. “It went well. Matthew has a very interesting way of expressing his opinion. And so, I didn’t push, I didn’t get anything out of him. He said what he wanted to say, we had a conversation and moved on.”

Matthew also chimed in after the first six episodes aired, responding to Love is blind An Instagram post: “A key element of my story that has never been revealed is that I live without alcohol and that I conducted the experiment sober,” he wrote. “That was a key factor in why I had so much difficulty connecting with women in the beginning. There were also many misrepresentations and untruths created in my opinion to tarnish my character. I look forward to being able to tell my side of the story with the full truth at the appropriate time.”

Although he intended to share his truth later, Matthew declined an invitation to attend Wednesday’s reunion.
