Love Is Blind's Dave Discusses That Shocking Bombshell in Aftermath of His Split from Lauren: 'Psychotic Behavior' (Exclusive)

Warning: This story contains spoiler from Love is blind Season 8.

David “Dave” Bettenberg found out more than his Love is blind Break up with Lauren O’Brien.

The former fiancée split before the finals of the season 8 after it was revealed that Lauren, 31, saw another man before the show – and Dave’s inner circle knew that guy.

As a result, Dave began to question Lauren’s intentions and whether she was really ready for marriage. She insisted that things were not serious among them and begged Dave to let her explain her friends and family, but he never gave her a chance. After failing to see face to face, and Dave then questioned why Lauren’s father did not want to be presented on the show, the couple called things in Episode 11.

But during the reunion of the season 8 on Sunday, March 9, Dave confirmed that the man allegedly “planted this idea” in the head of his friends and sisters, “knowing that he would come back to me.” He added that his mindset “completely moved … since the truth of this type came to light.”

In conversation with people about what he learned exactly, Dave (33) says, “It was all invented and did so intentionally because he tries to manipulate his exhibitions.”

“Honestly, it’s uncomfortable and desperate for attention and it’s pathetic,” he says. “Looking at what he is currently doing is only pathetic. Me and Lauren talked. We are like, we don’t even want to talk about this guy and give him the attention he wants. Since he literally plans it for a year. Planning and planning that place, and straightening people who know me especially, so I would be fine.

Since Dave only learned this information a few weeks ago, he said at a reunion that he regretted the way things ended up with Lauren and considers her “the one who fled.” In his conversation with people he repeated those feelings.

“Throughout this last year, I still thought what I initially thought was true, and now I just feel like an idiot,” he admits. “I apologized so many times Lauren. I trusted the people he used to say to it, and I didn’t know what else to do. There is no real appropriate answer on how to move.”

“I have this completely different perspective and the way I see things,” he adds. “Because at that moment, when I and Lauren did not succeed in the end, which is mostly because of this guy, I just point to the name of the best judgment that I can at the time with information I have from people I believe in … There was no way to spin it in her favor at the time.”

Dave also wonders what might be, if it hadn’t happened.

“Now me and Lauren, we joke with each other and send messages to the messages back and back how much we hate this guy and how disappointing it is for people to feel the need to do things like this,” he says. “But he did it to the detriment of our relationship. What if we did it if he hadn’t done it? It destroys the future and life of people.”

“You could never expect what happened to us. That was so bizarre,” he adds.

Despite all that, Dave hopes for possible reconciliation with Lauren – even if she told people earlier that “there is no way forward for us in terms of romantic relationship” because “that ship sailed.”

“Man, it’s possible … we’ll see,” he says. “I still have somehow processed all this new information and I just try to understand why anyone would do it, and it’s just messed up. But maybe – I won’t say no, I won’t say yes.”

“I think once it breaks in the next few months or so, I’m sure I and Lauren are, if we are both free, talk about it and see if there is a relationship there,” he adds. “Because I mean, I definitely still have feelings for her. I don’t know how she feels, but yes.”
