Love Is Blind’s Lauren and Cameron on Their ‘Return to TV’ and Hosting Hopes: ‘We Hear People’s Cries’ (Exclusive)

Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton know people want them back on TV, and fans can rest assured: their return is closer than they think!

The couple, who celebrated their fifth anniversary on Thursday, met and married on the first season of the Netflix series. Love is blind. Since then, they have become favorites on the shows, and are often referred to by fans as a couple.”Goals” and went so far as to petition for them to replace Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey as hosts of the popular dating series.

The Hamiltons now tell PEOPLE that they are aware of the passionate comments from fans and are slowly planning their return to the screen, starting with Lauren’s new competitive appearance on the show.

“In the near future, we want to go back to television or continue on television,” says Cameron, 33. “Lauren has a show, SKINcoming out soon.”

Aside from that show, Cameron notes, “We’re definitely planning our return to TV. We’re hearing people clamoring for us to host. And I think that would be a really wonderful thing. I’d really love to help couples find love in this kind of unconventional way, not necessarily Love is blind, but maybe our own format. And I really love that idea of ​​helping people find love.”

The duo previously teased that they would be open to the possibility of returning to reality TV – if the right opportunity presented itself.

“We just want to make sure it’s something that’s going to be good for us,” Lauren told E! News in July. “We don’t want to be on TV just to be on TV because that’s when you get in trouble. Then you find yourself in situations where you are not satisfied with the outcome. The story starts to get twisted just for fun.”

“Whatever we get into, I have a feeling it’ll be soon, you never know,” Lauren continued. “We just want it to be good for us and our fans.”

While waiting for the right opportunity, Lauren and Cameron keep busy. The two run the Hanging with the Hamiltons YouTube channel, recently adopted another dog and tell PEOPLE they have “other creative projects in the works.” Lauren also co-hosted a podcast called We have bills with Chris Burns and plans to start a non-profit organization for underserved women in the Atlanta and Detroit areas.

Through it all, their fans have remained loyal. However, Lauren and Cameron tell PEOPLE that they never felt pressured to maintain their status as an iconic couple from theirs Love is blind days.

“I don’t feel pressure because it’s never been there for us even during the whole show,” Cameron explains. “We were really just focused on each other. And I think once you let that happen, that idea of ​​like, ‘Oh, I have to be a certain way for people,’ it’s not good. You start second guessing yourself and being performative. I definitely don’t want that.”

Lauren fully agrees as she explains, “It’s no pressure because the best way to inspire people is to just lead by example. And I think that’s really what’s kept our marriage strong over the years … We appreciate the support, but we’re not really in the mindset of, ‘Oh, we have to do this because the public will think so.'”

“Like, they said we haven’t kissed in a long time, so let’s have a quick kiss,” Cameron notes, while Lauren adds, “That’s what we want to do. You can all join in if you want to … It’s all about working organically for us. And it works, so we’ll keep it going.”

But that doesn’t mean the couple will be sharing anything on their feeds.

“I think me and Cam, even though we’re very public, I think we also keep some things to ourselves,” says Lauren. “We don’t post every, every, every, everything, which you definitely see with some people, with some couples, that gives them more power. But I think it’s just important for us to have just our part of our relationship that’s just for us.”

Cameron adds, “You definitely have to have those boundaries and keep some of your relationship to yourself.”

While some things remained private, others — like their five-year anniversary and vow renewal, shared exclusively with PEOPLE — were public displays of their love, proving to fans that they’re still going strong half a decade later.

“Cameron is honestly very loving,” Lauren said of her husband. “He’s so selfless, and I really appreciate that. Because my past relationships weren’t like that. So I know what it’s like to not have him, so I’m grateful.”

Cameron adds, “This is hard to put into words, but I think I’ve learned even more this year that Lauren is very consistent in who she is, what I really love… and the things she’s willing to do for our marriage.”

“She sacrificed a lot in many ways… selflessness that [she has] what was shown this year was huge and it was deeper than I’ve ever seen,” he concludes. “I’m just very grateful to have her as a partner.”
