Uche Okoroha is open about continuing his relationship with Aaliyah Cosby after Love is blind.
As fans may recall, Aaliyah, 29, left the experiment shortly after Uche revealed his previous relationship with her co-star and good friend on the show, Lydia Velez Gonzalez. Uche was devastated by her sudden exit and tried to convince Aaliyah to give their love another chance, but she shut him down.
Later, the pair met for lunch and Aaliyah was willing to give it another try, but it was Uche who declined the offer, citing his frustrations with Aaliyah’s inconsistencies and up-and-down behavior after the experiment.
Uche, 34, is now setting the record straight about what happened after that conversation during an appearance on Miss. I understand podcast.
“Just to clarify, I continued my relationship with her,” Aaliyah’s Rachel Uchitel told the host. “I know they edited the scene and put in a sound track to make it sound like I kicked her, but that didn’t happen.”

“We met and she apologized for leaving, I apologized for all the miscommunications,” he continued. “We held hands. We shared our first kiss and decided to date on camera.”
Uche claimed that the producers of the Netflix series then asked if they would like to return to the show after the reunion.
“They invited us to go out again as an engaged couple and we said, ‘No, we’re going out without the cameras,'” he said. “I think they decided to change what happened because we refused to come back on the show as an engaged couple.”
PEOPLE reached out to representatives for Love is blind regarding these claims.

Uche also reflected on how the unique circumstances of the show helped shape his relationship with Aaliyah.
“Although I think I found an amazing person, and I appreciated our relationship, and I think it worked in that aspect,” he explained. “I also see that environment and being cut off from the rest of the world…could force you to form bonds that wouldn’t necessarily be as strong in the real world.”
During their early pod interactions, the pair bonded because they both own a Fender guitar, he said. “She said, ‘Hey, I have a Fender guitar,'” he recalled. “I said, ‘No way! I have a Fender guitar. We’re kindred spirits.’
“In hindsight, I think Fender is one of the best-selling guitar brands in the world… you’re willing to compromise more than you usually are and you’re willing to reach for connections more than you usually are,” he explained.

On his relationship status these days, Uche admitted that he is busy, sharing, “I am not single. I’m in a relationship. I have a girlfriend.”
“I think a lot of the things I’ve learned from this series have already helped me in my relationship, in terms of my communication and being careful with my tone and choosing my words very carefully,” he continued. “I think it helped immensely and I’m grateful to have learned those lessons. I think it’s made me not only a better man, a better communicator, but also a better boyfriend in my relationship.”
