Lucy Hale Is 'Deeply Grateful Every Day' as She Celebrates 3 Years Sober: 'You Are Not Alone'

Lucy Hale celebrates three years of sobriety by reflecting on where her journey began.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, January 2, Pretty Little Liars alum 35, marked the milestone by describing how her life has changed since she started on the road to sobriety.

“Damn. 3 years ago today I began my journey in remembering who I am,” she wrote. – Since then, I have experienced moments that can only be described as pure miracles and magic.

“I am deeply grateful every day – for the people who have given me light, for a power greater than myself that loves me unconditionally, and for my own tenacity to not give up,” Hale continued. “For all of you who have supported my journey, I have felt your love and that means everything to me.”

The actress ended her post by encouraging others who may be “struggling or going down a similar path” to “keep going.”

“Just keep going. You are not alone and the world needs you. ❤️,” she wrote. The post included a screenshot of her sobriety calculator, a photo of her overlooking the ocean, and a quote from Devi Brown.

In the comments section, Hale received support from many of her famous friends, including Demi Lovato, who wrote, “I’m so proud of you ❤️” and Colton Haynes, who commented, “Sooooo happy for you!!! I love you Lulu 👏🏼.

Some of her exes Pretty Little Liars Her costars also congratulated her, including Janel Parrish, who wrote, “You are absolutely amazing 🤍” and Sasha Pieterse, who commented, “🙌❤️.”

“When I got sober, it was never my intention to be the poster child for sobriety. But when I started talking about it, it came from a need to heal and take my power back,” she said.

Hale told PEOPLE that her journey to sobriety can still be “painful and uncomfortable,” but worth every moment.

“I still have to make decisions every day like, ‘Okay, today I’m staying sober and today I’m choosing me,’ but it goes deeper than just not drinking,” she said. “My life is so good now that I wouldn’t give it up for anything.”
