Luis Castro is the current head coach of the Brazilian club Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas. He also played for Elvas and Vitória de Guimarães in the Premier League, but spent most of his career in the lower leagues.

Luis Castro spent most of his 17-year professional career as a footballer in the lower leagues, representing O Elvas CAD, UD Leiria, RD Águeda and AD Fafe in the Segunda Liga and Vitória SC and Elvas in the Primeira Liga.
He played 28 games with the latter in the 1987/88 season, but his team finished 15th and suffered relegation.
