Humphries made a pair of triple 20s before chasing down 180 with his third dart at Alexandra Palace.

However, his last arrow hit bounced off the board, taking another one with it, costing Cool Hand Luke the most.

He was visibly shocked by the strange shot, showing a confused expression as he retrieved his arrows.

Darts fans sympathized on social media, with one commenting: “It’s a real accident.”

Another added: “So hard for Luke.”

A third fan simply wrote: “Brutal.”

Humphries was trailing 3-2 and trailing 2-0 in the sixth set at the time of the incident.

He was unable to recover and save the set, before fighting back to win the next five to claim the match 7-4.
