During her childhood, Lyzabeth Lopez was interested in various sports, including tumbling, swimming and creative dance. At the age of 12, she suffered injuries that made it difficult for her to do gymnastics. She became interested in weightlifting and began taking weight classes at her local Young Men’s Christian Association, or YMCA. She began to gain weight, developed an eating disorder, and eventually began to rely on exercise for much of her teenage years.
