Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Will Include Minnie Mouse Balloon for the First Time

On Thursday, October 17, Macy’s announced that 90 years after Mickey Mouse debuted as a massive balloon during the 1934 Thanksgiving Day Parade, Minnie Mouse will get her own 60-foot balloon, joining her sweetheart as well as Donald Duck and Goofy.

“Fans of all ages will have the opportunity to greet Minnie Mouse and her signature charm as she makes her debut in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” said Chrissy Anderson, vice president of North American brand merchandising at Disney Consumer Products, according to a press statement. issue shared by Macy’s.

As Minnie approaches her 100th birthday – she first debuted alongside Mickey in the famous 1928 Disney short. steamboat Willie — “There’s no better time than now to bring her out and let her really shine,” Anderson told the outlet.

According to Macy’s, Minnie’s balloon debut will also mark a new collaboration between the department store and Disney: the release of apparel, accessories and “unique collectibles” aimed at both children and adults will be available for purchase. The limited-time collection will feature new and exclusive Disney artwork by Jeff Shelly, Disney’s “legendary” art director, on a variety of items including tracksuits and T-shirts, loungewear and slippers.

Companies — including Kate Spade, Citizen, Funko, Hallmark, Swarovski, Loungefly and more — are also participating in collaborations with Macy’s and Disney, while select Macy’s locations will also feature dedicated Mickey and Minnie stores with products and fun activities.

“There’s no better way to mark this milestone than with a limited-edition collection that celebrates her sparkling personality and iconic style,” Anderson said, according to a press release.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC and be televised on the Peacock on Thursday, November 28.
