The pop icon paid tribute to a friend on the recent Celebration tour

Madonna celebrated a very special friend at a recent concert.

During her Saturday night Celebration Tour performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the “Frozen” singer gave a shout-out to a friend in the audience who “saved my life,” appearing to refer to a “serious bacterial infection” she suffered in June.

IN video posted by fansMadonna noted that there was “one very important woman” in the crowd that night who helped her survive.

“There are some very important people in the room tonight who were with me in the hospital. There is a very important woman who dragged me to the hospital,” she said in the video. “I don’t even remember; I passed out on the bathroom floor and woke up in ICU… She saved my life.”

Madonna also revealed that she was in a medically induced coma for 48 hours, and “the only voice I heard” during that period was her Kabbalah teacher: “I heard him say ‘shake my hand,'” she told the crowd.

Madonna also added some levity to the story, joking, “By the way, I almost had to die to put all my kids in one room.” (Mom to six children: Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David Banda, 18, Mercy James, 17, and 11-year-old twins Estera and Stella.)

Madonna’s boyfriend Josh Popper joined her on stage at the celebration in New York

On June 28, the “Vogue” performer’s longtime manager Guy Oseary announced on Instagram that she was in intensive care for health issues and was recovering.

On July 10, Madonna broke her silence, thanking fans for their support.

“I felt your love. I am on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” she wrote at the time. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone. I am now focused on my health and strength and I assure you that I will get back to you as soon as I can!”

After postponing the first North American leg of her Celebration World Tour — marking the 40th anniversary of her debut album — Madonna took the stage, kicking off the tour in London in October; she planned to finish in Mexico in April 2024.
