“I definitely make sure to be respectful and consider her feelings and I won’t say anything that won’t help but only hurt,” he says as Emily seems confused by his answer.

dr. Pia immediately notices the change in Emily’s demeanor, saying, “So, I’m noticing your body language and eye movements when he’s saying that . . .”
“It’s just her,” Brennan quickly clarifies.
dr. Pia once again tries to talk about Emily’s body language, asking, “But, there’s something behind it. So when you squint your eyes and look like that, what does that mean?”
When Brennan tells his wife to “explain,” Dr. Pia repeats that she would like to speak directly to Emily, but he continues to interrupt her.
Finally he says: “Let me talk to her.” Brennan, I’m talking to Emily.”

However, he will not back down. “I’m just helping,” he claims. “This is a lot, isn’t it, so I’ll just help her take a step back.”
“She doesn’t need your help, though,” replies Dr. Pia.
“This is my wife, so I’m just going to make sure she’s okay,” he says as Dr. Pia retorts, “It’s my job to ask if she’s okay.”
The heated therapy comes as the couple, who got married in public, struggle to adjust to married life.

After the honeymoon, Brennan admitted that he wasn’t attracted to Emily and decided to spend a few days in his apartment with Emily instead of moving into a shared space right away. He also refused to help Emily move her things even though she had an injured wrist, and left her friends indifferent at their housewarming party.
