MAFS: Michael Details Why He Is Hoping for a ‘Silly’ Partner as He Prepares for a Second Chance at Love (Exclusive)

Married at first sight’s Michael gets a second chance at love.

In a PEOPLE exclusive sneak peek of this week’s episode of Lifetime, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, the show’s sociologist, asks Michael if he’s ready to take “one more chance” at love after being left at the altar earlier this season.

“You know, emotionally and mentally adjust yourself for this,” Michael, 38, says of joining the social experiment. “And I discovered things about myself that I wasn’t aware of at the time, like I knew I was ready for marriage but I didn’t know I was that ready. So to answer your question, I would 100% do this again.”

dr. Pia Holec, the show’s psychologist and sex therapist, reassures him after his negative experience on the show, saying, “You’re going to make someone extremely happy.”

Pastor Calvin Roberson then asks Michael what he is looking for in a potential partner now.

“I mean, of course, I’d like an intelligent woman, someone you know, very witty and quick, and very invested in herself,” Michael replies. “And I think maybe what I didn’t articulate well [is] as much as I appreciate stupidity. I know it doesn’t come across here, but I’m a pretty silly person.”

“And I kind of love that levity like you can be a strong version of yourself in whatever form you’re supposed to be, but you also have that freedom to let yourself be silly and goofy,” he adds. “But I would also echo that sweetness, like maybe you’re hard at work, but there’s this sweet nature that you really nurture within yourself.”

Roberson says the trio of experts are “completely, absolutely, unequivocally convinced” they’ve picked “the right husband.” He says to Michael, “You are the king.”

“We think you have what it takes to create a relationship that has depth and fun,” adds Schwartz. “I really hope we can find the right person for you.”

“We’re going to put our nose to the grindstone to see what we can do,” Roberson concludes.

Earlier this season, Michael revealed his MAFS costars that he was left at the altar.

“You know, the day of the wedding comes and she comes down, pauses for a moment and then basically declares that she doesn’t want to marry a stranger,” he explained to other couples.

He added that his bride “left a message and that was our real, only contact.”
