Maharashtra: Panchkula SHO woman dies
In the early hours of Saturday in Maharashtra, a female police inspector from Panchkula in Haryana was reportedly struck by a truck, killing her, according to authorities. Although four other team members, including a diver, were injured in the collision, their condition is stable, according to police. Inspector Neha Chauhan, an officer at the Panchkula Women’s Police Station in Sector 5, has been named as the deceased officer. Chauhan and her team were leaving the Wardha district of Maharashtra in a white Bolero when the police car collided with another vehicle. The team, led by Chauhan, had traveled to Wardha as part of the investigation into her dowry case.
The officer said: “So far we have heard that the truck hit the police car. We frequently interact with the Maharashtra police. Section 5 of the Panchkula Women’s Police Station was headed by Neha Chauhan. A team was sent to Maharashtra. Chauhan, a resident of Shahbad in Kurukshetra, lived with her family in the Panchkula Police Lines area of Moginand Street. Her husband, two children and one of her sons preceded her in death. In 2000, Neha took home the gold medal at the Ice Hockey Federation of Asia Under-18 Women’s Cup. She was hired by the Haryana Police as a sub-inspector through the sports quota program.
Neha, who hails from Shahbad in Kurukshetra, was remembered by her colleagues as kind and friendly. She lived with her family near the police lines in Panchkula. Her husband, two children and one of her sons preceded her in death. As news of her death spread, a gloomy feeling prevailed at the Panchkula Women’s Police Station. One of her colleagues praised her for “fully supporting the staff members.” During the quarantine caused by the Covid, she actively participated in distributing free meals to people. Neha prepared food for 300 to 400 people at the police station and distributed it to them during the quarantine.
