Maheesh Theekshana is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has represented Sri Lanka in many international competitions. He also played a lot of games for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL. He is popularly known as the mystery spinner due to his bowling changes. He was the first Millennium (2000) Sri Lankan cricketer to play international cricket.

Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana (Zoysa) was born on Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in Sedawatta, Colombo, Sri Lanka (age 23; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Leo.
In 2006, he enrolled in Samayawardhana MV, Colombo, in grade 8, and in second grade, he studied in Sedawatta Siddhartha Madya Maha Vidyalaya till grade 10; however, two boys at St. Benedict’s College, Colombo, Shanthilal Silva and Vivian Saverymuthapulle convinced her After his grandmother moved to Kotahena, he started attending St. Benedict’s College and played cricket for the school team under coach Rukshan Foux. In 2010, he joined Asoka de Silva Cricket School and trained under the guidance of Thilak de Silva and WADS Ramyajith. He subsequently played for Colombo North Under-13s, Colombo North Under-15s and Western Province North Under-15s. He made his T20 debut for Colts Cricket Club on 1 March 2018 in the 2017-18 SLC 20-20 Championship. On 14 March 2018, Tikshana made his debut for Colts Cricket Club in a Group A (one-day) match during the 2017–18 Premier League limited-overs tournament. On December 7, 2018, he made his debut for the same club in the 2018-19 Premier League season.
While playing cricket for the Sri Lanka Army Under-23 team, he trained under the tutelage of enigmatic spinner Ajantha Mendis and also participated in the 2020 Army Commanders Cup. In August 2021, he represented the SLC Blues team in the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League. He also plays for Northern Warriors in the 2020-21 domestic season.
Overcome fitness issues
Due to his outstanding performance in school cricket, in 2017, he was invited to trial at the National Cricket Academy at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He failed the physical fitness test due to a weight of 105 kg and a skinfold score of 140 (average score of 91). -100, athletes 81-100), also took 10.1 minutes to complete the 2-kilometer run.
Although his bowling impressed academy director of cricket Simon Willis, he was not selected for the Sri Lanka U-19 squad for the 2018 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup due to fitness issues. After joining the Sri Lanka Army in 2020, he worked hard to keep fit, shedding nearly 22 kilograms of weight and reducing his skinfold score by half. He also improved his YOYO test score from 16.1 to 19.2 and shortened his 2-kilometer run time from 10.1 seconds to 8.28 seconds.

Theekshana was not eligible to play in the 2020 Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL) Season 1 as Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) placed him in the supplementary category; however, former Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera was impressed with his bowling ability Deep and asked Jaffna Stallions to find a way to include him in the squad.
Stallions management requested SLC to include Theekshana in the emerging category, and SLC complied. Theekshana was acquired by Jaffna Stallions for $10,000 during the 2020 LPL season. He played for Jaffna Kings in the 2021 LPL season and became the player with the most wickets in the season with 16 wickets. He was acquired by Jaffna Kings in the Diamond Group A of the 2022 LPL season (price $40,000; approximately Sri Lankan Rupees 14 million). He also plays for them in the 2023 season.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquired Theekshana for Rs 70 lakh for the 2022 IPL season against his base price of Rs 50 lakh; he took 12 wickets in the tournament. He helped CSK take 11 wickets in the 2023 IPL tournament and win the title.
Caribbean Premier League (CPL)
In July 2022, Trinbago Knight Riders signed him for the 2022 CPL season.
South Africa T20 League (SA20)
In August 2022, Johannesburg Super Kings signed him for the inaugural SA20 season in 2023.

- Tikshana could not afford the tuition fees at St Benedict’s College, so St Benedict Cricket United arranged for him with the help of cricket coach Lackey Rogers. However, they later recommended Theekshana to the sports coordinator Rev. Br. Pravin Vaz (FSC), who further contacted the Director of the School Rev. Br. Janaka Fonseka (FSC) provided a full scholarship to Theekshana.
