Mallika Sagar was born on Sunday, August 3, 1975, in Mumbai (48 years old; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Leo. After studying in Mumbai till 10th grade, she moved to the United States and attended a boarding school in Connecticut for 11th and 12th grade. She first became interested in auctions as a teenager after reading a book in Mumbai with a female protagonist. auction. A few months after graduation, Malika joined the international art and luxury goods company Christie’s. In December 2000, she held her first auction in New York, selling baseball memorabilia. In 2001, at the age of 26, she became the first Indian-American woman to become an auctioneer at Christie’s in New York. In 2004, she left Christie’s and spent a year caring for her ailing mother. Thereafter, she began her career as an art consultant. In April 2011, she held her first art auction at the Pundole Art Gallery in Mumbai. Since then, she has held various modern and contemporary art auctions.
In 2011, she became a director of Manisha Trading And Investments Private Limited. On August 22, 2016, she became a designated partner of Fulmala Enterprises LLP. - After her marriage to Vir Advani, she was known as Mallika Sagar Advani.
- After divorcing Mallika, Advani began dating Riya Talati, the daughter of architect Nohir Talati.
- Mallika became the auctioneer for IPL 2024 as previous auctioneer Hugh Edmeades had health issues. He collapsed from “postural hypotension” during an auction.
- In an interview, she said it was Edmeades who introduced her to the Indian sports auction industry. Hugh approached her as a replacement for the 2021 IPL auction.
- During the IPL 2024 auction, Kings XI Punjab caused confusion by mixing up two players with the same name from different cities. They tried to tell Sagar they didn’t want the players they got, but she had already given the sale down. Sagar said auction rules must be followed.
- During the IPL 2024 auction, she made yet another mistake by referring to the Gujarat Titans as the Gujarat Giants. Gujarat Giants is a kabaddi team in the Professional Kabaddi League.
