Mama June: Family Crisis: Anna Wonders 'Why' Me as Cancer Returns and Pumpkin Is Baffled by June's Custody Offer

Mama June: Family crisis is back and the family is preparing for the difficult journey ahead.

The June 14 episode began with the ongoing feud between June’s mom Shannon and husband Justin Stroud over whether or not June would pay back her youngest daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, money she was allegedly owed. Although June feared this would create a cycle where Alana would continue to ask for money, Justin disagreed.

“Fix it!” he shouted before storming out of the house, before June replied, “I can’t keep correcting the mistakes of the past.”

When Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana got back to the car, they blamed June for denying Alana the $30,000 she earned as a child. “The thing is, you’re with… mom and you took someone’s money,” Pumpkin said.

Inside, June agreed that it was Alana’s money, but Alana spent it “on herself”, claiming she had done nothing wrong.

“As a parent, that’s what you do, June,” snapped Justin. “Whether it’s successful or not, that’s what you do as a parent — you invest in them to a degree.”

Leaving June to think, Alana flew back to Colorado.

Meanwhile, Jessica Shannon and her partner Shyann McCant have revealed their baby plans together, saying Shyann will be carrying the child.

“Do you know how hard it is to find someone who is actually decent in this world?” Jessica questioned after Shyann said she was “excited” for their next chapter.

On the other side of town, Justin met with his mom to explain the situation with June, saying he was going to “leave her” if she didn’t give Alana the money.

“June sometimes lives on another planet,” he said. “You took the girl’s money, it’s her money.”

But June had other things on her mind after receiving a call from daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who said she had been in severe pain for days. Since June doesn’t have a driver’s license, she called Justin to pick her up.

Justin went to lunch with his mom and took Anna and June to the cancer emergency room, where she said she was in “stabbing” pain that was “unbearable.” June admitted the family knew there was a chance Anna’s health could deteriorate, but they were optimistic after her recent improvement.

“Her hair grew back, she was able to take the kids to school, she was able to spend time with everyone, she was able to cook dinner for the family – do all the things she wanted to do,” June explained. “Then boom, this happens. There is even more excruciating pain.”

After a long wait for test results, Anna discovered she had a kidney infection and that her tumors had grown to “triple the size”. Fearing that she had ruined her recovery by “eating a lot of sweets”, Anna tried to stay positive, even though she was no longer eligible for chemotherapy.

“We knew her cancer was very aggressive, but that’s not the news we want to hear,” June said. “She is not giving up her fight, no. She fought hard and will continue to fight until her last breath.”

Back to Shyann and Jessica, the two discussed asking Pumpkin’s husband, Josh, to donate sperm for their baby. Jessica took Pumpkin to lunch to “drop that bomb”, nervous about her sister’s response.

“You never wanted kids,” Pumpkin said at the idea of Jessica becoming a mom. “It’s not as easy as I think it looks or as fun as I think it looks.”

Jessica explained that she had changed her mind, but Pumpkin insisted that having children was a “trap”. Jessica then received a call from June, telling her that Anna probably “won’t be here this time next year,” so they put the baby discussion on hold.

While debating who would take custody of Anna’s daughter Kaitlyn, June insisted that Anna wanted her to become the guardian, but the conversation ended there. On the way home, Pumpkin decided to break the news to Alana, who had returned to college, and Alana discussed dropping out of school.

“That’s exactly what I was kind of afraid of when I first moved here, whether something like this would happen and I’d have to come home, and Anna would already be gone,” said Alana.

Later that night, Pumpkin told Josh that she thought it was “weird” that Anna would want June to get custody of Kaitlyn because June “didn’t even care” for Anna. She wondered if it was a “money problem,” but Josh noted that “money doesn’t make a mom.”

Back to the custody talk, June was firm in her belief that she should get Kaitlyn. She also wanted Anna and her husband to move in with her so she could care for her during her final days.

“Some people think I don’t deserve or need Kaitlyn because I willingly gave up custody of Alan,” June explained. “My life has been a crazy rollercoaster, but I’ve also been clean for four years. I’m doing well and my life is back on track and I’ll prove it to anyone who says I don’t deserve Kaitlyn, including my own children.
