Mom June Shannon continues to reach out to her late daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, even if she doesn’t get an answer.
On the eve of the first anniversary of Cardwell’s death, Mama June: Family crisis star, 45, shared how she remained close to her late daughter in an emotional tribute on Facebook.
“It will be a year on Monday and we miss Anna Marie Cardwell so much and I would give my last penny to just talk to her and [for] her [to] to be here for my girls,” she began her post on Dec. 3. “Sadness honestly [hurts] at random times.”

Shannon explained that she had “no control” over feeling angry or crying over the loss. She added that the pain of Cardwell’s death was particularly “horrendous” and that the loss of her daughter was more difficult than the loss of any other family member.
“Living in a house where Anna passed is so hard, not only for me but for the whole family,” she continued. “But we kept our promise to take her wherever she wanted and I will continue to do so. We definitely did [kept] her memory is alive and always will be.”
Shannon also revealed that Cardwell is “still in our family group chat” and on her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird’s “car radio.”

“[I] they just can’t and won’t delete any text and I’ll never take her out of chat, I’m so sorry [to] whoever gets her number one day, you better not remove yourself [sic]”, she said.
On 9 December 2023, Cardwell died after being diagnosed with stage four adrenal cancer in January of that year. She was 29 years old. Then Shannon announced the news in an Instagram post.

“It is with broken hearts that we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” Shannon wrote. “She passed away peacefully in my home last night on 23.12. She gave a hell of a fight for 10 months, she died with her family around her as she won’t, and we will [sic] We will update you with more information as we get it today.”
When she died, she was surrounded by her sisters – Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Efird and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson – as well as her husband, Eldridge Toney.
