Mamadou Ndiaye was born on September 14, 1993 in Dakar, Senegal to parents M’bad and Seynabou Ndiaye. His parents also gave birth to his older brother, Adam. Mamadou’s passion for sports was evident from his childhood in Senegal, although he preferred football to bodybuilding. However, after a growth spurt in adolescence, he became quite tall and started playing basketball more often. He came to the United States in 2010 when UC Irvine Anteaters assistant coach Amadou Koundol discovered him and offered him a contract while playing with the young guys in Dakar.
