Manchester City was hit with 115 charges

And Premier League chief executive Richard Masters revealed a “date has been set” for the hearing, although he declined to reveal any further details.

City and Prema leaders have been talking to each other for several months about when a hearing will be held to discuss the alleged violations.

It is claimed the trial will start in the autumn, meaning City may not learn their fate until the summer of 2025.

The club has been charged with 115 breaches from the 2009-10 season onwards.

Chief among the alleged violations are allegations of excessive financial reporting and refusal to cooperate with Prem’s investigation.

City vehemently denied any culpability.

But if found guilty, the club could face serious sanctions – possibly deducting points or even relegation.

Everton have been deducted 10 points this season for breaching profit and sustainability rules between 2020-23.

City are even in danger of being stripped of the three Premier League titles they won between 2012 and 2018.

The champions contested 115 charges and the case was in the hands of the head of their “independent tribunal”, Murray Rosen KC.

Prem boss Masters referred to the City case when asked about the frustrations of Everton and Nottingham Forest, who were hit with fresh FFP charges on Monday.

Both clubs face a minimum of six points deducted this season after being accused of breaching profitability and sustainability rules.

Everton have appealed against the ten points they received earlier this campaign, but a further six points would drop them into the relegation zone – five points off survival.
